Glock Knives

Glock website has them listed for about $30.00. The price seems a little low for a quality knife. Are they good knives, or do you get what you pay for?

same question, different day

A knife is a tool. To answer your question according to your needs, you address who, what, when, where, why and how.

Examples. If you have to dig in the earth, yes.
If you want to filet a fish, no.

If you want a hunting knife, able to cut food, no.
If you want to keep a bear at bay, maybe.

My mentor is in his 70s, a professional firearms trainer. He bought some Glocks last year. And, then he spent $30 a knife having them reground and altered the factory sheaths. This is why you must get realistic and specific about what you want to do with the tool.

There is no way of avoiding the learning curve and buying a series of knives. This knife was designed for usage by military enlisted men. For that reason, it is not made "sharp". You may want a shorter, sharper knife and it would be a Mora.

You could want to attach your knife to molle gear or Alice gear. If so, good luck because you are going to have some work to do in finding some one to make you an appropriate sheath.

Many people buy Glock knives and then discover that they have other situations they want to address - and then buy a different tool. If you want a military knife for about the same price, then you also look at the ka bar offerings.

Welcome to the club!

bdcochran,

Thanks for your insight here. I have had the same questions as whip, but just didn't want to drop and $$$ on a knife that would be useless to be later.

I absolutely agree about the Mora knives, I have two and because of the sharp edge I have a ton more uses for this knife around the camp and even at home that most any other knife I have.

Thanks again.

They are good a good knife for the money. A pretty good field knife for doing brutal things. Very durable and the sheath is really good. But they are a bayonet more than a knife. The blade could use use more belly.

As others have said, they are thick, sturdy, durable and very blunt from the factory. Consider a good sharpening grind as part of your initial costs, and you'll be good to go from there on.
