Got a Colt New Agent

After doing some research and asking for some advice on here and 1911forum.com, I had narrowed my new carry 1911 choices to a Springfield EMP, Colt New Agent/Defender and a Kimber Ultra CDP II and maybe a few others...but I was pretty dead set on an EMP.

Went to the gun show in San Antonio today, which was actually a pretty decent show...outrageous prices on ammo, magazines and any rifle remotely black and plastic, but handguns in general and most bolt actions and shotguns were reasonably priced.

One table had all three of my top choices, which was nice for a comparison perspective and bargaining perspective as well. After about an hour, I decided on the Colt New Agent. I liked the way all three felt in my hand, maybe a little bit of edge to the Kimber. But what sold me on the Colt was the fact it is basically all black and it has a set of XS Big Dot sites on it.

I really like the way the gun feels, it will absorb the 9mm recoil nicely. The trigger pull is decent, i've been dry firing with a snap cap to work it in and get a good feel for it...I can't wait to take it to the range and wring a couple hundred rounds through her!

Thanks for all the info from this group and if you have any knowledge or thoughts on the little Colt, please let me know...here are a few pics!

Very nice. I have the same gun, but in 45. I'm thinking these are a talo model. They come with better sights and maybe a special SN. I can't really remember off hand.

My opinion isn't worth anything, but IMHO you made the best pick out of those options. There's just something about carrying a 1911 with a pony on the side!

I'm a huge Colt fan, so I'm a little biased here, but you made an outstanding pick up. Looks like you even snagged the Talo version. I don't know how you feel, but I like those sights much better than the "trench" ones.

Thanks guys, yep it's a Talo edition...number 468 of 500 I found out! I love the sights...I probably would have gone another route if it would've had the trench sights...feels great, can't wait to shoot it...darn Super Bowl!

That is one fine looking pistol. I know it did not shape your opinion but I saw a Colt ad and basically it said,"If it not a Colt then it's a copy." I thought that was well said and pretty neat. I have a Colt (Model 70) 1911 and a Colt 100th Anniversary Edition 1911 Rail Gun. I'm proud of both of them. Good luck with your Colt!

You lost me at 9mm! I almost bought one of these in .45 a year ago and think my next gun will be a defender in .45!

Nice looking gun!

Nice Talo edition New Agent. Had I known that option was available, I would have asked my gun store to get it for me instead of the Defender.

Anyway, make sure that it'd feed hollowpoints. Mine choked up on the Cor-Bon 115-gr +P JHP. I haven't tried other JHPs yet.

Congrats on a great pick. Guess I was a little late to respond on your other thread.
I've had several Defenders and carry one daily. Only thing I would personally change on the Agent is the thumb safety. I prefer a bit more ledge.

I generally don't have a thing for snubby 45's but I do like it. Since the Nyla's which will limit mag cap here one of these sighted agents in 45 is on my consideration list.
I just gave up a gov model 9mm because of our new laws- when my 9 round mags wear out or break I will not legally be able to buy more. If we can only have a max of 7 round mags in our carry guns, they might just as well be big!
