Welcome to last month!
This is old news. There hasn't been any .22LR (not to mention many other calibers) for quite a while now.

This was a local find and they only had one brick left.

sgammo.com got a few million rounds of 22LR in over the last two weeks. I think they're done getting in what they ordered for a while, but I snagged a 5K round case of CCI SV from them. Note that they sold 200 cases in 23 minutes from when their email notification was sent.
The ammo is still being produced and shipped on a regular basis- you just need to know how, where, and when to look in order to find some.

Yeah some .22LR was on cheaperthandirt last week, I think it was around 23 bucks for 500 rounds. Not a terrible price.

Well, then, they must have sold a few million rounds of .22LR since you posted. I just checked, and they've got exactly NOTHING in stock, according to their website.

They were sold out when I posted. My point was that they have gotten several shipments in the past two weeks alone. They sell out very quickly each time, but the ammo keeps coming. It's not like there hasn't been any ammo available for the past month.
Persistence is needed to find stuff that gets stocked before it is sold out, but the ammo still being produced as fast as it ever was. One thing that 22LR has going for it is that they can't change a rimfire line over to produce 5.56 or 9mm. So, that capacity will still be used for 22LR. Less popular centerfire cartridges are probably out of luck until some of this craziness subsides because there's too much money in running 5.56/.223 and 9mm on every line available.

I happened to come across some at my LGS on Friday. 500 rounds of CCI mini mags for $43.50. They received around 10000 rounds and were limiting everyone to 500 rounds. By the time I left the store they were already out.

I cannot believe that you cannot believe it! Have you forgotten 1994 and what the AWB did?
I have learnt to stock up on essential goods before hurricane warnings, I have learnt to keep a one year supply on ammo.
It escapes me how people cannot foresee this to be repeated.

It's not dried up. There's only so much that can fit on one truck. When people are lined up hours before opening it doesn't last long. Now you're stuck waiting on the next shipment.
I just picked up over 3k rounds.

Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day when .22 LR was being sold at 10+ cents a round!

A week ago, I found two boxes of Federal AutoMatch at one of our local Walmarts. Last night, I checked another one on the way home from work (after midnight), and they had just stocked two of the CCI plastic ammo cans that contain 1600 rounds of .22 LR Mini-Mag (round nose, not HP).
Walmarts are getting ammo, even .22, it's just coming in much more slowly, and getting sold (all of it) within an hour or two of it hitting the shelf.

You remember the price for that can?
Some local guy is asking $185....won't budge.

If it's the same thing (16 individual 100-round boxes of Mini-Mags, plated round-nose, not HPs), it's $104.00, plus tax. Click to see bigger view:

My LGS got in a case yesterday and was selling a box of 50rds for $2.29, limit of two boxes per person per day. I felt like I was holding onto gold when I got them.

It's like that for all ammo unfortunately; I had to spend about an hour online to find anything left at a reasonable price. 10 minutes after I found something, they sold out.

It's one of those things you've gotta be extremely opportunistic or flat out lucky to find. I've seen 90 cases sell out on SG in about 6 minutes. I should be good for a couple years at least on 22 so I've quit searching really. One thing I've noticed about SG lately is that they're splitting up their stuff on all calibers instead of just selling cases only like before. Of course, it's all at an elevated price like most everywhere else (not blaming SG). I'm sorry but I'm not paying $.36/rd for 9mm and $.50 or more for .45 hardball...which eventually that'll be normal prices and will have no choice, but I'll wait till then to do it. I won't fault anyone for buying what they want/need, but really if we just all stopped buying/hoarding/whatever then prices would go back to normal a lot sooner, and that goes for everything...as hard as that might be to do. $1000 Glocks included.

How does the ammo selection look at Scheels down there? The one in Grand Forks is completely out of everything in the typical calibers.

Pretty stripped here, too. They do get stuff in every now and then (just like Walmart), but it doesn't last very long. No rimfire at all, I haven't seen any for weeks. They had some bulk-packed .223 remanufactured SP loads show up in 500-round boxes, along with a decent stack of Hornady 50-round boxes of SPs, and I remember thinking, well, that should hold folks for a while; but it was all gone 2 days later when I stopped in. They had a bunch of .40 ammo on the shelf for a couple of days, then it was mostly gone; I think they only have some Blazer in .40, now. I heard of a small batch of 9mm ammo showing up, but it didn't last more than a couple of hours.
As of a couple of days ago, they had a ton of XD mags in various calibers (filled up the empty Glock showcase with them -- how cruel). I bought a few G17 mags a couple of weeks ago (they'd received maybe 20 or so), but they disappeared within a day.
Same as many other places, stuff comes in, and goes out FAST. If a person isn't checking regularly, they just assume that nothing has come in at all during that week/month.
