Cops spray & pray- two women shot in LA
Could this indicate a lack of discipline, training, common sense- what?
Sure they are 'on edge, who can blame them, but shooting newspaper delivery women?

I'm sure there is a perfectly rational explanation for this. And it
probably involves the delivery woman not following the officer's instructions.

If 'not following officer's instructions' would justify shooting, wouldn't there be lots more dead perps and fewer chases/evasions?

Interesting parallel event-- only the citizen knew those creatures were law breakers. I wonder how both incidents will play out?

So are you really trying to tell me both shootings where caused by the victim not following orders?

Hunter, I think your "understanding" of BWS' post may be an indication that your computer doesn't register the sarcasm font.

I usually side with the police, but it's mainly because the people who post about them here know so little about law/police/crime/etc. that their comments and conclusions are silly.
In this case, what the police did was stupid. I can't see any excuse for it and it smells like panic.

And those involved should lose their job. Not put on leave, but dismissed.
And I'll add, incarceration could be warranted.

This.............. What happens to a citizen if they panic and shoot the wrong person. The driver may never heard the police command if they had the windows up and the radio on.

This.
Look at the shots. The driver's side rear tire appears flat with a shot through the mud flap; I count 17 shots into the tailgate. If they are shooting high caps...34-36 rounds max between the two of them with just a little less than half into the bed?
I also see at least three shotgun shells on the ground which could account for the holes; but the distance appear to be what maybe 20 feet. I'm assuming they use some sort of LEO low recoil buck which generally has a low spread at those distances.

The two women in the blue truck were illegal aliens (hard to believe in Los Angeles right). Driving very slow, no lights, and dark tinted windows. I'm sure some command (in english) was given with no response.
Over reaction by the LAPD? Yeah, ok.
I'm sure if they were after a suspect that didn't kill ove of thier own, things would have been different.

It doesn't matter if the cops were right or wrong in their read of things. It matters if they were reasonable.
I can't find any reasonableness here. The use of deadly force is generally in immediate defense of life. The shooter has to be able to articulate that the shootee had the means, opportunity and intent to cause death or serious injury to an innocent. I can't see where any of those factors can be articulated here.

Honestly Bear , I heard it from one of the horses mouth. I do not have a link to it but its very probable, especially in this city.
I'm sure those officers were giving multiple commands for that blue truck to stop which led to this event. I personally think it was excessive because you known if they were after a normal suspect of even a serial killer of some sort this would less likely to have happened. Replace a regular suspect with one that killed several police officers, then low and behold emotions run high. Apparently to most police, the lives of their "own" is far mor important.

Interesting picture here ........ The truck is definitely blue (not grey) and LOTS of bullet holes in the rear of the truck...... Don't know if they were shooting at the truck as it approached them or not... Would be interesting to see the front of the pickup.

If you don't do what the police say, they will kill you?
Seems ok if you are a murderer or pointing a gun at the police. But is a bit extreme if you are a non-criminal and just not real good at following directions.

As bad as these incidents are there may be some GREAT good that may possibly come out of it.
To quote Thomas Sowell:
Quote:
“It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.”
|
Actions such as those we are witnessing now on the part of poorly trained and panicing public servants my very likely bring up the thorny issue of Sovereign or Limited Immunity. This could greatly loosen the interpretation of Respondeat superior sometimes referred to as the "Striping Doctrine".
This would be a tremendously good thing with respect to holding those accountable for their actions. The big problem is that due the precipitous Moral Decay in our society, this doctrine in order to work successfully would require that ALL (read private citizens included) be held accountable for their actions and actually apply equal protection under law. It pains me to advise NOT holding ones breath waiting for this to happen any time soon or ever. At least not under our current "system" of "government".

Looks pretty bad. The truck's not even the right make and model. The article identifies the suspect's truck as a Nissan Titan and the truck shot to pieces in the photo is a Toyota Tacoma.
