I love my 590. She's a bit of a heavy *****, but 8+1 capacity, rock solid reliability, and tough as nails make up for it.

Love my 870, I need a mag extension and side saddle though.

Get an 18.5" barrel for it. That's all you need. I give three bits of advice for anyone building a fighting shotgun. 1. Keep it basic 2. Keep it basic 3. Keep it basic

the express finish sucks though lol. Rust if you drink a glass of water in same room. I also love ghost rings, not a bead guy

I have heard this so many times on the internet, I have yet to have any issues with mine. I must have got a super special one.

I have heard that there is a possibility that older ones were finished better and that Remington quality control may have slipped. Things might be a bit spotty or there could be some out there from a bad patch in QC.

Do you think that just might be possible?

Exactly what I did with my old Wingmaster. Spent the extra money on ammo, rather than the tacticoool crapola.

My favorite 'fighting' shotgunS (yes, plural!) are Remington 870s.

The 870 Wingmaster "Police" that I got at a gunshow. (LNIB)
The day I got it:
Tactical Shotguns
Tactical Shotguns

I removed the 20" 'cyl' barrel and put an 18-1/2" 'IC' barrel on it, plus a Wilson +2 extenstion.
The 870 Express has an 18-1/2" barrel w/+2 Wilson Extension.

All are stoked full of Federal 00B w/flite control wad.
(Patterns real nice at 21'!)

I've seen a couple of videos on a UTA 15. Hickock 45 seemed to like them. But I saw another vid where the shooter had a hard time making it work. Anyone here used one?

Benelli M4. Good enough for the United States Marines, good enough for me.

What did you do to shorten that barrel? I'd like to cut down my 28" VR barrel to about 23" but I want to thread it for turkey chokes.

I have a Mossberg 590A1 six shot. I like it a lot.

I would like to add a Benelli M1 Super 90 or M2 to the stable. The FN SLP looks pretty darn good too.

I used a new quick-cut hacksaw blade (not a cheap one), and duct tape to tape above & below the cut ("measure twice, cut once"), then after the cut, I used a couple Swiss-files to totally even out the cut, as well as knocking-off the burr inside the barrel so that it is completely smooth & even...I finished off with 600 & 1200 grit wet-dry sandpaper. I cut mine down from 26" to 18 & 1/2".

As far as internal threading for a choke tube goes, that's something that a (good) gunsmith can do.

Benelli M4. Wish I could find one for a decent price, but my M3 and 121 M1 will do for now...

I like my 870. Mag extension, surefire foreend, knoxx stock, side saddle on receiver and stock, and XS big dot rifle sights.
