I noticed some bounced emails that I didn't send. They all went to some crazy email address that seems to be made up.
In a couple of them my ISP, Earthlink said they cleaned the virus from it.

I think there's some sort of virus doing it, but I did a full sys scan with NAV and it came up clean.

Any ideas?

it doesn't mean they came from your machine. if another person with your address in their list is infected, those types of viruses will often spoof the email address of a random contact into the 'from' field.


that's probably what happened, though i must say i have never heard of the email bouncing back to the spoofed sender. i suppose it could happen.

if nav says you are clean you can be 99% sure you are unless you are just that lucky and got some brand new virus that nav doesn't protect against or scan for yet.

Almost every e-mail virus spoofs the senders address.

The machines it's sending it to are bouncing it back to you because the virus used your e-mail address from a message you sent to some idiot who opened an infected e-mail.
