Stephen Cannell - total gun idiot
Got a thriller by him out of the library. It was about SWAT stuff.
So the first few pages there is a shoot out with the BG. The officers must take cover as the BG is shooting those dread LEAD-CORE bullets that can shoot through brick walls and cars.
The hero realizes the BG is covered with Kevlar so asks the SWAT guys to lend him some Teflon 9mm so he can take down the bad guy.
Put the book down.

I've read two books by Cannell, The Tin Collectors and The Viking Funeral. Both pretty much a waste of time. If you can believe Cannell, L.A. cops carry their pistols in Condition 3, he has them chambering a round or, (get this) "tromboning the slide" before going into action. Its clear that all Cannell knows about firearms comes from Hollywood but then again, that LaLa land for you.

This is the same Hollywood heavyweight that in four seasons of 'The A-Team' had the good guys fire thousands of rounds from Mini-14s and never once hit anyone. Not to mention that in nearly every episode, the various bad guys were all clever ;P enough to lock the A-Team heroes in completely-equipped machine shops complete with supplies and a handy, ready-to-convert-to-a-tank vehicle.
I have read a few Cannell books because I got them in the clearance bin at Half-Price Books and I figure any book is worth a dollar.
When the liberals whine about gun control, ask them if they know who is the largest private owner of NFA firearms in the country. Can you say Stembridge Gun Rental? Machine gun supplier to the stars? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
