pictures of muzzle flash
I tried taking pics of a glock during firing to get the muzzle flash. The pictures turned out OK, but not exactly what I wanted. If any of you have suggestions I would really appreciate them.
The pictures were taken with a Canon EOS rebel. The lens is a Quantarray 35-90. The film was Kodak 200 speed. I didn't record the f-stop. The shutter speed was either 2 or 3 seconds with the camera set to shutter priority and no flash.
Thanks
This is one shot from a G19c.
All ammo is the inexpensive Remington from Wal-mart.

This one was fun. 10 shots on the same exposure.

Yeah, my buddy said he couldn't see anything for several seconds after each shot. That would really suck in a SHTF scenario.

I was going to, but I couldn't figure out how to protect my camera lens from the powder residue.

it is possible to take a head on muzzle shot using a mirror held at 45 degrees to the line of fire. position camera looking into the mirror so it can see down into the barrel. bullet shatters mirror, but no one else is hurt. good luck. make some extra prints for me

If you have a remote or set the timer and put the camera behind a sheet of plexy glass. It houd be fine then.
Now on the picture switch the mode on the camera to M for manual. Set the F-stop to 8 and then set the speed as high as it will go before it starts to blink. I had the same camare so that is what would be best. If you use the pop-up flash it will add more light to bring out the gun and your face more, and it will set the speed even better.
I would say to try to shoot it at 500th a second with the F-stop at 8 would be great. I may try it this weekend if I can get the time. Good luck with that.

LOL, only because this guy is a 6'3 340 lb college lineman.
Now with my bro-in-law however who is normally sized.. some of the items in the tail gate did not stay put..
jim-usmc, my apologies for the semi-hijack of your thread.. your muzzle flash pics rock!!! a tripod with a faster shutter speed would be more dramatic!!!
