I am surprised there hasn't been a lot of replys yet.
Anyhow
I DO!!!!!!
The most performance 35 grand can buy with 4 wheels.
Now I need to just squint a bit, make that a whole lot, until my 95 cougar XR7 sorta resembles one. Then I can get just a taste of what it is like to own one.

I love cobras. I just could not afford one. I ended up buying a 2002 GT. Last week the guy I bought my car off of brought by a 04 cobra he just picked up. This thing was aweeeesome, Black on Black with blue&purple flames, full exhaust, whipple upgrade, upgraded afco cooler. I took it for a test drive;W ;W Felt like I had the front tires of the ground

Anyone know how the '96-'04 Cobra's do on a road course?
I would think the '99's and '01's would do best because they have the independant rear yet don't weigh as much as the '03's and '04's.
They all have pretty much the same brakes but: the '96-'98's are lightest, but the IRS cars have more anti-dive and can get the rear brakes to help out the fronts more.
I also wonder if the '03's and '04's get dangerously hot lap after lap. Not coolant tempeture, piston tempeture.
Thoughts? Experiences?

As far as personal experiences go, I think personally love the 94-95 GT's and Cobras(performance wise). For me you can't do much better than the 302. They is very quick stock and the aftermarket is huge. Granted the new technology of the late model cobras makes them very fast right out of the box. As far as the 04's go they do tend to get a little warm on a road course but not too bad. I just wish I could have gotten my engineering degree a few years earlier so I could maybe have helped design these bad boys! Mustangs are AWESOME!!

It'd be interesting to see how the next generation of Mustang Cobras would perform on road courses since that it's based on the more modern chassis.
The current (well, there aren't any 2005 but you guys know what I mean) ones perform well by pure brute forces: stiffened suspensions and shocks, massive tires. It worked but not too prettily. Although I must say that the drivers who can make these things dance truly know how to drive. I'm more used to the razor sharp handling of dedicated sports cars, but whatever floats your boat. Also, I prefer my vehicles to be naturally aspirated as well.
I test drove a couple of these Mustang Cobra convertibles with friends who were interested in them and the torque makes me wanted to romp on the throttle all the time. That's not a bad thing until you go shopping for tires every other week.;f

Sure, but there's less than 300 of them. They sell for over $50,000.

I love the performance, hate the body style (and that off all of that generation)
I am warming up to the retro 05 body though. I have seen a couple around ehre that have been modified and look pretty nice.

I'm amazed to see people praising any mustang on a forum that is not for mustangs. I thought everyone else hated them. Maybe thats just what I see on any other forum. 03-04 Cobra: The second best mustang of all time following right behind the 69 Boss 429...in my opinion. Sure its slower but dang the boss was just bad

+1
I'd sell off kidneys and stuff for a black 69 Boss 429 with full race hemi heads.
If I made more money as a cop in texas, it would be spent on an 89 Conquest TSi and an 03-04 Terminator with about $3950 in mods ;f

I have an 01 Cobra and a 92 Cobra(wannabe) and I love them, obviously. I would NEVER trade in my cobra for anything else. Im working on a twin turbo kit for it right now, hope to make around 800 rwhp at least.

Uh, there is no 1992 Cobra.
Dude how are you going to send 800+ hp through a 3650 tranny and independant 8.8 rear? Oh yea, your not!
Just messing with you;e
But I'd like to read your answers too#wav

HAHA, thats why I said wannabe. Actually, I dont do much drag racing at all so the rear end should hold up ok. Almost all of my racing is done from a roll. Obviously it does put pressure on the rear end and eventually ill have to swap it out but its holding up fine right now with 600+ rwhp. I have many friends who are running 800+ rwhp with stock rearends just fine, lets just hope ill be one of them. As for the 92 hatch, its running around 350 rwhp so although its not a true cobra i dont think ide have a problem taking a real one off the line.

North Florida.
What I drive is classified (by me) like my occupation and a few other things. I never post about them. ;R
