I am using 768MB RAM with Athlon 2100+ CPU. Come to find out my capacitors on the motherbaord are leaking causing power turn on problems. Can you guys tell me what a good replacement board maybe, so I can re-use my CPU and memory, or is it cheaper in the long run to just get a motherboard/CPU/Memory replacement setup?

Man... capacitors are blowing left and right... I've replaced 7 motherboards from Dell in the last 6 weeks or so... they must have had a bad batch (from the cheapest supplier of course). Not knockin' Dell though, I had replacements for all within a day, or less.

As far as the board goes... you'll get much better answers from a PC Gaming forum than from me... I'm an XBOX man myself so I can't even recomend a good PC Game nerd gathering place... just wanted to let you know you're not the only one suffering the wrath of the capacitor.

I repair computers and Xbox's on the side, but it seems lately comp repairs have died off, but Xbox repairs and upgrades have taken off.

If you are happy with your setup now, find just a motherboard. You're taking everything out one way or another. That board will support more PC than you are ever likely to need. I have good luck with TigerDirect.

Just curious... How can you tell a capacitor is leaking? Apparently I've never had this prob.

As for motherboards...

I haven't used this particular board, but I've had good luck with Soyo...

I think the Asus A7N8X-Deluxe supports you're processor, but I'm not positive, and I can't find any more detailed specs than this..

Hi Indy. I noticed my computer would shut down a couple of seconds after startup, then it wouldnt POST, then it would shut down after Windows XP started. I did an internet search on computers shutting down, came across a few posts from people with bad capacitors and checked mine. Brown stuff on top of them that meant the cap leaked on top.
People all over have started to have this problem with old and new motherboards. Mine is two years old. Thanx for the links.

I have a7n8x E deluxe, asus gives good warranty. 6 of em.

guess which one i'm gonna recommend?

new you can lowball under 100$

used, ebay, whatever, is really smarter. maybe 2/3 that. if you can get accessories TOO it's a win.

asus will replace a bad board.

if you're absolutely sure you want all new warranty, not wrong, just a few dollars, get it.

just you don't HAVE to if you're broke or cheap or a risk taker.
