I work for the S.O. here in the "sticks" of east-central Ohio and we carry Sig P226 .40 and use 180gr. Federal tactical hollow points. We previously carried Speer Gold Dot hollow points. The OSHP uses the Sig P226 .40 and I'm pretty certain they use Gold Dots.

My department issues Sig P-226 .40 180 grain Winchester Ranger T ammo.
OSP no longer uses the Gold Dot ammo.

When I went to the OSHP Academy(Basic Class 97) back in 1998, the Firearms Instructor told us that the Winchester Ranger 180gr won the ammo performance testing, and the Speer 180gr came in 2nd. The Speer was selected because it was less expensive. I was the only gun nut in the class who was remotely interested in this, LOL.

With Columbus's PC attitude I am not surprised they are issued NERF bullets.

Dayton and most sorrounding jurisdictions issue .40 or 9mm+p+ Ranger. Kinda partial to the 9mm+p+ since you get a couple more rounds in the mag. Some performance stats show that the 9mm+p+ coming out of my 34 is hitting with the same energy as the .40 coming out of a 4" or 4.5" Glock.

When I bought my 27 from a LEO I was given 2 mags of Speer Gold Dots, 180gr.
