"Safety Inspection" - what a joke

I just moved to Southgate and had my latest Glock acquisition (G26) presented to the Southgate PD for "Safety Inspection." Know we all know this process is a joke. First of all, I looked up the Southgate PD website and it prominantly shows that they do "Firearm Registrations" not safety inspections. Finally, a government agency telling the truth. So, I go in today and present my gun to the records clerk (no law enforcement officer involved at all) and she tried to remove the mag from the weapon. She didn't know how. She tugged on the base of the mag for a few seconds and then asked me to remove the "thingy" after pointing it at me while handing it to me. Nice. Then she asked me if I could "make the top thing stay open." I did, and she just looked at the weapon and went to her desk and wrote out my green card. It was definately a painless process, but it just is another instance of what a total joke the process is....

Hearing things like this makes me so glad that I live in such a small county. Here the sheriff's office and one of the deputies(female) takes care of it. She is awsome, she knows what she is doing and makes the whole process less painfull.
