Well, I finally did it..

I got a Glock.

19. Good gun.

Yay, me!

Just thought I'd share that since I've been posting here for a couple of years and never owned one.

Any good holster suggestions? I'm looking for an OWB that I'll be wearing on a duty belt for matches. Later maybe a concealed carry rig.

That's funny, I just did the same thing Barb! I bought my first Glock a few weeks ago, a used 19, and I've been posting here for a few years.

I figured it was just finally time to buy one and see what all the fuss was about. That and my students kept wanting to rent a Glock when they rented guns from me.

Oh, and I finally bought the *other* icon of moden handgunnery the other day. I bought a STI Spartan 1911. Up to now I was only an intereested bystander in the "Glock vs. 1911" debate as I didn't own either one. Now I can jump in the argument on either side.

For outside the waistband holsters, I've always had really good luck with Blade Tech. I don't have one for the Glock yet. When I asked Steve F. about holsters for Marie, he reccomended "G Code" brand with the drop and offset.

I really like the Milt Sparks VM 2 for an IWB holster. Once again though, I don't have one for the Glock yet. I have used them with CZ-75, BHP, and HK P7 and they've all worked well. I also have a Galco IWB for my Sig 239 that works pretty well.

The 19 was my first handgun, and is still my all around favorite.

Barbara w/ a Glock? Welcome to the Darkside

Comp-Tac no question OWB, IWB, Paddle they have you covered. The only other one I'd consider is the BladeTech DOH (drop-offset-holster) made for women and allowed in IDPA for women.

Another issue is the stock plastic sights. If you have them get rid of them ASAP or the first class you take they will likely be gone. They are not going to stand up to hard use, like one handed malfunction clearance drills, etc. Ameriglo, Meprolight, or Trijicon have you covered depending on your needs or opinions on night sights vs. plain metal sights.

+1 on Trijicon. I just purchased a set of their N/S for my G22...great sights. To top it off, a Michigan company

Its got factory night sites.

I use a Comp-tac for carry now and will probably look at one in the future. I picked up a Fobus paddle holster today so I'd have something to use for the match Saturday, but I'm still going to want another one eventually I think.

Yep, I'm still looking forward to that. Let me check my schedule with Marie for this Friday to see if I'm free. I know we are going out of town next week and I'll be gone next Friday.

Yeah, let's try that, Rob. Remind me when it gets closer, ok? You know how my schedule gets.

I just bought my first Glock 19 (used)... well... my first ever gun too. I am totally new to guns (aside from my grandfather's hunting rifles that I used to target shoot with as a kid, and help clean, etc.)

Question... for those who have Glock 19's ... especially woman, how do you ccw? I just got my CCW ... but the gun seems too big to carry and not show to me.

So far, I was told the best bet would be a fanny pack designed for ccw. I ordered one from tommy (something websight), but would like other ideas.

Unfortunately, its difficult for most women to carry on their person. Look into specially made purses with holster compartments.

Also ask this in the women's forum here on GT, and the women's forum on ar15.com.

Welcome aboard.

I don't carry this, although I may.

I tend to carry IWB over my appendix.
