I have been told that in California you can only have a gun worked on while you're in the shop - no leaving it overnight. Is this true???

Maybe your "Gunsmith" is not a FFL ?

IIRC if you leave your gun with a gunsmith they have to be an FFL. I remember reading that if you left your gun with a gunsmith he has to basically DROS it back to you just as if you were purchasing the gun - 10 day wait and whatnot -but the one time I took a gun in and left it with a gunsmith I had no such hassles.

Also...I belive if your gun is a registered AW you can't leave your gun with them as well. FFL or not... you need to be present when they work on it.

If you take a registered California Assault Weapon (similar to the tooth fairy, only exists in the imagination of small children and Kali politicians) to a gunsmith for work, you cannot leave it with the gunsmith unless he or she holds a California Assault Weapons Permit. Otherwise you must remain with the firearm while it is being repaired. Shipping to the manufacturer must also go through a gunsmith with the California Assault Weapons Permit.


Also, you may not draw a handgun in a day care center.
