Squirrel call

I found a Mr Bushytail call (baby in distress) and thought for $7 it wouldn't hurt. Didn't sound like much. Kind of annoying actually. Well today I went out to try it. Didn't see and tree rats to observe while I tried out the call so I gave it a couple of trys. Saw one pop up and he came toward me, then started to circle around, he ultimately ended up probably about 12 yds away, about 8' off the ground, looking around for the "squirrel in distress". I mostly kept an eye on him, but noticed several others in the area start moving.

Most of them moved along the tree tops to get where they were going to come down to investigate. When I went out I didn't hear the first one, after a minute or so of using the call off and on, the whole area came to life with barks and calls. I wasn't hunting, but feel that the call actually would have made quite a difference. I know this sounds like a shameless plug, but I don't think I'll go after them without, just in case I need to stir some up.

I use a std tree rat bark caller with good results. Great for getting them to raised their heads.

On teh distress whistle, don't be surprised if you call in bobcat, a few birds and maybe a yote. Mine has not be as good as the grey squirrel caller tho.

It was in my front yard this afternoon. While I don't live in the city/suberbia I'm not way out in the country either. There are/was a family of hawks a couple doors down that would freqent out house though. Maybe next spring I should try to call them in for a few pictures.
