Marine corps emblem

this question is for any of you U.S.M.C. historians out there...
when did the marine corps emblem without anchor rope- i believe it is
called unfouled, issued to marines- all i know is that it was prior to 1961.
anyone know the correct time frame????????????? thanks

The current EGA was adopted in 1954 so it'd have to be before that. Google it up.

The Original EGA emblem was adopted in 1868 by
*Brig. General Jacob Zealin, 7th Commandant, USMC

The 1868 EGA contained a FOULED anchor.

Regulations of 1920 prescribed gilt finished and bronze screw back ornaments for cap, hat and collars, replacing WW-I collar disks with a standard EGA, without rope.

to- rpm3521usmc- no apology needed, however my question does ask when the rope
on ega was added and i believe it was answered by several respondents. the reason i asked for info is because i found 2- ega collar emblems with no rope and knew that they
were different from the ones issued to me in the 60 ties- so thanks to all for their
imput.... semper fi

Okay after reading this I am wondering if you are looking at a pair of enlisted collar EGA. The rope is there it just not pronounced as the officer EGA. I hope that this help out..

whiskey moodz- no these are small collar & piss cutter ega's without any rope on
the anchor- from what i've heard they were utilized between ww 1 & ww11. so my
basic question has been answered by other leathernecks. thanks- semper fi
