I just learned about "sandboxie" and it looks great!

I was just surfing around for free protection software and I found alot of good ones. Probably old news to you guys here but I am not a tech guy.

Someone on GT reffered me to AVAST for free antivirus which is great. I already found and deleted 6 viruses on this new laptop I got the other day.

And this new thing to me...sandboxie. Man I saw a demo of how it works and I was amazed on how well it stopped everything. I saw the guy download several known virus's and spyware about 5 times just to prove that they cant get into your system even if you run exe.setup and it starts running.

Its trapped in a sandbox program and nothing gets into your computer and nothing can be taken out. Man thats SWEET!

When you log off, you can set the sandbox to delete everything in it.

I guess the only down side is that it costs $29 but the benefits seem awesome!!!

I thought there might be a free version of this software but i didnt find anything.

Sorry if this is old news but I just found out about it.

If you're that worried about it(depending on the specs of your PC)... Install virtualbox, and install a version of Linux inside it for surfing. Mint or Ubuntu would probably be the easiest to pick up for most folks. Mint would be good because it has multimedia stuff for web browsers installed, and you wouldn't have to really learn the OS. Virtualbox and Mint are free.

To add to IGF's suggestion there is M$ Virtual PC. You can get Virtual PC 2007 for XP, Vista and Server 2003 here ... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en and the latest version for Windows 7 here ... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/

... they are also free.

I've been using "Safe Space' which seems to work the same way as SANDBOXIE and is free. It was reviewed in a positive way by users and 'experts'. Here's a link:
