The match is now only two weeks away. I'll be there Saturday with my best friend Ron Young, Jr., and will be shooting a G17L in Amateur Competition and a G37 in Amateur Civilian. "Eagle Rock Glock" teammate Simon LeRay will be there Sunday. Due to family commitments Ron and I have to drive down Saturday morning and drive back home Saturday evening. I had planned to make a long weekend trip out of it.
not me, too far and no time off. wish i could make it i really enjoyed it last year and the funny thing is the part i enjoyed the most was sitting and talking with the match director from the club, sorry to say i forget his real name. GT name is Bogey.

I'm looking forward to my second time shooting as part of team "Eagle Rock Glock". I'll just be shooting on the Sunday as I have to work Saturdays, hopefully next year I will be able to shoot both days.

Good morning:
I've been learning about the GSSF matches on this forum, and thanks for all of the information.
Yesterday I sent in my application to join GSSF and register for the match in Creedmore. This will be my first, and I'm very much looking forward to it! I'll be attending a conference in western VA through Saturday, and will be shooting on Sunday, and hope to meet some of you who will be shooting that day. If I can get away early enough on Saturday, perhaps I can stop in to watch before dark.
Welcome to GSSF. Shooting a GSSF match is about the most fun you can have with a Glock. Bring 150 rounds of ammo and all the magazines you can get your hands on.
Just found out about this and I'm a GSSF newbie. My wife and I are planning on going up on Sat now. What time do we need to be there? Assume registration around 9 am or so, but didn't see a specific time on the website.
Does it last all day? or are you done in 3-4 hours? Assume FMJ ammo? Some places say 60 rounds of ammo, others 200. What's the scoop?

I think registration is from 9-3 on Sat and 9-2 on Sunday. You can walk up and register during those times. If you preregister before noon Wednesday you can save yourself $10.
I've never taken more than 3 hours to shoot, of course that will depend on the number of participants.
As far as I know there are no restrictions on type of ammo, your preference. The max rounds that can be expended is 107 per division but bring extra in case they have some practice plates set up.
You can compete in multiple divisions at $25 per.
Good luck

Registration is from 9am-2pm both days. Shooting starts at 9am and stops when the last shooter is done or it is too dark for safety. The time it takes one depends on how many categories one enters, how many magazines one has and how many other shooters show up at the same time. 4 hours is very reasonable.
I'll be bringing three shooters with me, including a new member, and will be wearing my black Glock golf shirt, name on back, dragging my yellow wagon around the range. I am fluffy and aged to perfection.
In Columbia, SC a few months ago, the scorer neglected to write down my time for my last string on the 5 To Glock. I didn't realize it until I'd walked away, and by the time I saw it, it was too late. I had to reshoot the entire string, and that is 50 bullets. Even though I reload my own bullets and had plenty AT HOME, I didn't bring them with me. Ended up having to buy a box of 50 (at $18 or so? Ugh!) just to reshoot it.
What if that happened twice at one match? The lesson I learned, is to bring an extra 100 or so in case I have to reshoot, as well as 50 or so in case they have a "side match" (used as warmup) that I can shoot.
You can't have too much ammo !!

i always bring 3 extra loaded mags for reshoots along with a extra 100 rounds of ammo for guys like John F to shoot in my guns in MSub or UL. much better to have it and not need it than the other way around.

The weather on Saturday looks MUCH better than Sunday. Of course, a higher percent chance of rain does not consider local variation or that any rain at all counts on percentages.
See you there.

IDPA-Now, how far do I have to carry this empty magazine in a slide locked gun before I can drop it and reload?
What do you mean I can't grab a full one on the way?
