This is likely going to be my dumbest question to date, but here goes. I bought some Sherer pinky-type grip extensions that were for G30 and assumed they would work on my 29. The mags won't insert all the way with the extensions. Are these pinky extensions not interchangeable with the 29 and 30's like the +2's are for the 20's and 21's?
A G30's ten round mags use a goofy baseplate, they ONLY fit a G30.( see first pic)
The G29's nine round baseplates are of the standard design, like the G20/21.(see second pic)

Sorry, let me clarify. I did put the .45 pinky extension on my 29's ten rounder, and the mag won't insert all the way. The extension comes way up the sides of the mag and won't let it insert far enough to click into place. Am I missing something?

The only dumb questions that exist are the ones you already know the answers to.
How much extra capacity do you want? I don't own a G20, or a G29. If I did though I would probably go the the TDI website and order a couple of the +17 (for the G21) mag extentions and use them to get 32 rounds of 10mm.
Actually I think that my next Glock will be a G20 converted to shoot the 9x25mm Dillion complete with three 32 round extended mags and possibly a legal 200 dollar tax stamp to accuire a stock for that rig. All together that would be an awesome anti-home invasion room clearing short barreled rifle as well as a handy tool if I was ever caught in a Rodney King style riot and needed to defend myself until help arrived.
DoubleTap has a 90 gr round for the 9x25 that exceeds 2,100fps and a 125 gr round that exceeds 1,500fps!!! That's super duper speeeeeeeedy. I forget what the fps is on their 147gr, but I can imagine it is a lot faster than their 357 Sig 147 gr that gets 1,225 fps
I've heard several people suggest that the sherer ones are not as good as the pearce - I have purchased the pearce - but since the gun/gun case/mags haven't come in yet (Monday) I don't know if they'll fit or not, but they are designed to fit and I expect there will be no problem.
I put the Pearce +2's onto the G29 mags and they're perfect. They're not as contoured for the pinky as the others, but I've got 12 rounds in there now. Fantastic.
Just out of curiosity, why is there a round inserted backward in the mag?
Well duh.....it's easier to get them in the mag that way!
