Bronx plainclothes cop shoots teen in the face who flashed an imitation gun

A 15-year-old boy packing a BB gun was shot in the face by a Bronx plainclothes cop after the teen made a move for the fake piece, police sources said.
Marcus Bonner took a bullet in his left cheek after narcotics detectives spotted him arguing with a rival group of teens. He pulled the imitation handgun and sent the boys running for cover, police said.
"[He] takes out a gun and he's threatening the other group," said a police source.
The plainclothes detectives, who were assisting an undercover cop on a buy-and-bust, chased Marcus and another suspect, sources said. They ran to Marcus' Holland Ave. building in the Allerton section, where he lives with his mother and sister, and Marcus made another move for the BB gun around 5 p.m.
"He makes like he's putting his hands up to surrender," said the source. "It's a fake surrender and he reaches for his gun."
That's when the detective squeezed off one shot, which pierced Marcus' cheek and blasted out of his jaw.
"Rev had a BB gun and he pulled it. And they shot him. Rev was bleeding out of his mouth," said Jessica Rivera, 28, calling Marcus by his nickname. "Damn, they tried to take his head off."

The source said the detective, an eight-year veteran, had no choice but to pull the trigger.
"It looks like a clean shoot," the source said.
Marcus, an aspiring rapper, was taken to Jacobi Medical Center. He was in stable condition.
Police recovered the weapon. Marcus and the other suspect, who was not identified, are under arrest.
Charges were pending, police said.

Sounds pretty clear that it was a good shoot. Even a Bronx witness backs the police. That is shocking. Apparently the aspiring rapper is not very bright. If he had just dropped the bb gun and complied without running he wouldn't have an extra hole in his face.

Yeah, the kid was asking for "death by cop" Point a gun at the police and guess what will happen. Not the cop's responsibility to verify what kind of gun.

So, the taxpayers get to fund his repairs and plastic surgery, house him as a ward of the state in the fine prison system for a few years and possibly pay his disability because of pain and suffering

If the officer had better trigger control and had not yanked the shot, the round would have been 2 inches right and 2 inches higher solving the problem permanently.
