1st Gen G17 Questions...

A local gunstore has a 1st Gen G17 in stock. It comes with 3 mags(2 18rd and one 33rd) It looks almost new. Also has adjustable Glock sights. Anyways, they only want $400 for it. Is that decent on a Gen 1? It feels very nice in my hand. The grip seems so much smaller than a 3rd gen. I took it apart and it has a non-captured guide rod. Does the G17 need to be sent to Glock for ungrades?

The price is very good.
And yes, if the upgrades have not been done, they need to be. Whether it is at Glock or not.

I'd try to get the price down a little, but the 33rd mag helps too (the other two are 17 rounds by the way). Does it have the original box too?

If it has the original recoil spring in it, it probably has not been upgraded either..

Thats what I thought. I guess Im a dummy, I gave close to 700 for mine. It is NIB with all paper work and manual and the original two mags. It had been a safe queen since 86.

Actually the 2 mags are 18rd. Glock factory mags. They go up to 18(not 17 like normal) The appear to be NFML.

Ahh ha. Thats exactly what it looked like. I thought it was strange. The 16 does look like an 18 kinda.

How much does Glock charge for the ungrade? Would it be cheaper or faster doing it myself? Thanks.

Your only cost would be to ship it back to Glock.

Cheapest way to ship it would be to have a dealer do it, if you have one that will, they can ship cheaper via the USPS.....

Another option is to take it to a factory armorer at a GSSF match....unfortunately, there isn't one close to Michigan till next summer.

Do you have a Glock stocking dealer near you?
