45 ACP self defense loads?
Im looking for the best self defense loads for my g21, im not so worried about the cost as these will only be for carring and sparly shot. im more concerned with reliabilty and the putem down factor.
Thanx Goon

I've always been partial to the Remington Golden Sabers in .45 acp. They feed in most of my 1911s even if other JHP won't.

Personal preferences of mine are 230 gr Speer Gold Dots, and 185 gr+p Cor•Bon DPX loads. To each his own though.
Also, let the ammo war begin!

Another vote for SGD 230gr
If reliability is a concern (and is should be THE concern in a carry round) make sure you run at least a box of these through your Glock to ensure it feeds well. (That's a minimum, I'd recommend more rounds in other platforms, but the Glock tends to feed extremely reliably).

Ranger 230gr +P T or SXT. Federal 230gr +P HST. Like them both and they both shoot excellent out of my G21SF and G30.

The Remington Golden Sabers are the most reliably feeding 45 ACP JHP's. The FBI seems to like them in 45 ACP too.

Caliber Corner
Caliber Corner is a forum for the discussion of all of the various types of ammunition out there. If you have a question about the merits of a particular brand/type of ammo, this is the place to post it.

Technically, you are right. However, it is a GLOCK specific question.
So, posting here in the GENERAL GLOCKING forum is a good place for it.
You should probably answer that phone...
OP:
Winchester Ranger 230 Gr. T-Series
Winchester Ranger 230 Gr. Bonded
Hornady TAP CQ 230 Gr.
Winchester White Box 230 Gr. FMJ
Those are my choices.

If his question is for reliability in his Glock 21, it can only be answered by testing his firearm with a variety of ammunition recommended here.
The question now becomes ammunition reliability and ballistics, which would be better suited in the Caliber Corner forum.
I was not posting because I felt the need to be condescending. I was posting to make him aware of this sub forum, being that he has 6 posts and could be new. I apologize if this was how you took it.

All of the rounds mentioned are very good, and street prooven choices.
That said, this...
http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/cat...els8gmftsfq8q0
230gr. Double Tap Ammo bullet does a incredible 1,010 FPS.
It is a bonded Speer Gold Dot bullet, pushed to highest velocity.
It will put the most energy onto the target, 510 FT/LBS !

POW'R BALL
Feeds in anything and expands completely 100% of the time.
It's better than the stinkeye of an Italian grandmother

Not sure what a "putem down factor" is, but pick one of these which functions best in your gun and practice as much as you can afford.

I 'sparly' a cross between sparingly and barely? I love new words.
