Green Zone Movie? Thoughts?
I know it wont be out for a while, but Ive been seeing a bit about it lately. I love the Bourne movies and this is a reunion of sorts of Matt Damon and Paul Greengrass. The movies seems to be in the Borune style, so that sounds good. Its too bad however that the more I see about the movies the more obvious it becomes what they're doing with it. Its about the Iraq war and him trying to find WMDs. I keep seeing this senator in the previews and Damon talking to him on a sat phone. I just know that somehow eventually well all find out that this senator somehow paid someone off to lie about the WMDs. Its a pity really because I would really like to see this movie, but I will not if this is in fact the story they try to tell.
Anyone else heard anything about this movie?

Looks like Matt Damon reprising his role as Jason Bourne, but this time with a much more obnoxiously loud anti-military, anti-American, slant. Ho hum.

That's exactly what it seems. Its too bad because otherwise the movie would probably be good. I honestly could care less about most of these actors or musicians political views. Keep them out of your work and it would be better for everybody. As soon as these people realize that nobody give a rats about what they think the better off we wall are. You're an entertainer, keep your politics to yourself like most normal people do.

CBS's Smith Touts Anti-War Film 'Green Zone' As 'Bourne Meets Hurt Locker'
By Kyle Drennen | Thu, 03/11/2010 - 16:12
Harry Smith and Matt Damon, CBS In an interview with Matt Damon near the end of Thursday's CBS Early Show, co-host Harry Smith helped promote the actor's latest film, 'Green Zone,' which attacks the Bush administration over the Iraq war: "What was it like to make a movie like this? Because it's a little – it's – I'm not sure if this is an apt analogy, but it's a little 'Bourne' meets 'Hurt Locker.'"
Smith alluded to Damon's role as Jason Bourne in the action movie series and the Oscar-winning film 'Hurt Locker,' which chronicles bomb defusing teams in Iraq. Smith introduced the pre-recorded interview by touting Damon's latest film as a "new Iraq war thriller."
Lending credibility to the 'Green Zone' screenplay, Smith noted the movie was: "loosely based on a book that was written by a correspondent for the Washington Post, but the characters in it are fictional." Damon explained the premise of the film: "The guy I play is based on a real guy, he's leading a mobile exploitation team. We had these teams follow the Army....exploiting these sites where we thought the WMD were....they start realizing that there aren't any weapons there." Smith added: "Yeah, and he's a true believer." Damon replied: "Oh, absolutely."

It does suck when the libtards turn their movies into propaganda, there are so many people out there ignorant enough to believe that there is some truth and reality to it. Seeing the preveiws for that Clowney movie Syriana, I thought it would be a good movie. I had to get up and walk out it was so damn anti-american, and full of crap. I was liking the looks of this one but it doesn't look like I'll be watching it. I'll wait till its on tv and maybe catch it then.
One question though, The Hurt Locker is not like this is it?? I have heard it is a great movie and wanted to see it but won't if its full of propaganda too.

Yep. It LOOKS like it could be a pretty decent action movie, but I read an article on E! online and even they said it was an anti-war movie, but without being anti-troops.
I don't need to hear any more idiots screeching "there were no WMDs in Iraq!" and I sure as hell don't need to PAY to be subjected to that for 2+ hours.
If saddam didn't have any WMDs, I guess those Kurds just gassed themselves, huh?

The review posted on Hollywood.com pans this movie (1 star out of 5).
The review starts like this:
"Green Zone is a story we’ve already heard, shot in a manner we’ve already seen, and starring Matt Damon in a role he’s already played."
And the close to review reads like this:
"The climactic sequence, for all I could tell, was either shot in Damon’s backyard, culled from Bourne trilogy deleted scenes or assembled from scattered YouTube clips. This punishingly chaotic, often incoherent, and ultimately exhausting approach to storytelling isn’t cinema verite; it’s dementia pugilistica."

Ebert's gotten so political lately that it's hard to take his reviews seriously anymore.

Yup -- Ebert is an off-the-scale leftist.
Hard to believe of a film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times, eh?

Green Zone Bombs at the Box Office
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20100314/en_nm/us_boxoffice
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – "Alice in Wonderland" raced to a $430 million haul at the worldwide box office on Sunday, while Matt Damon's new Iraq war conspiracy thriller "Green Zone" was one of the year's first big flops.
Director Tim Burton's 3D remake of "Alice" led the field for a second weekend after earning $138 million during the three days beginning on Friday, said distributor Walt Disney Co.
Moviegoers in the United States and Canada chipped in $62 million, a drop of just 47 percent from its opening weekend, and the total North American tally for "Alice" stood at $208.6 million. The foreign total rose to $221 million after a $76 million weekend in 48 markets.
"Green Zone" opened at a distant No. 2 in North America with $14.5 million. Distributor Universal Pictures, which axed its top executives last fall after a poor run at the box office, had hoped for a slightly better showing.
"It's a bit of a disappointment," said Nikki Rocco, president of distribution at the General Electric Co unit.
Damon plays a U.S. soldier questioning the supposed existence of weapons of mass destruction shortly after the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. Reviews were mixed.
The $100 million movie was directed by British filmmaker Paul Greengrass, who collaborated with Damon on the second two movies in the "Bourne" action trilogy. Those opened to $52.5 million and $69 million, respectively.
Rocco noted "Green Zone" did better than most other entries in the Iraq war genre, including Oscar best picture winner "The Hurt Locker," which has earned about $16 million since June.
"Green Zone" grossed $9.7 million in 14 foreign countries, led by a $3.3 million showing at No. 3 in Britain. The film opened at No. 2 in Australia with $1.9 million.
Universal also underperformed with its last big picture, "The Wolfman," a $150 million monster movie that earned about $135 million worldwide.
The other newcomers in North America made even less of an impact.

If the president of distribution calls it a "disappointment" -- it's a fracking disaster.
