Sources for Inert Training magazines
Does anyone here know of sources for inert training magazines? I'm specifcally looking for one that fits a G21 and does not lock the action open when the slide is racked.

But frankly, you'd probably be better off making your own.

Just a thought, but have you considered removing the spring and follower from a standard mag?

Bingo, this is what you do if wish to have a training magazine that will not lock open the slide. The base plates need tape or glue to keep them in place however. Something that can keep them from popping off once they hit the deck during a speed reload drill for example.

Using a modified real mag is a pain because without a follower, it sometimes catches on the mag well and may not have the weight to drop the same as a live mag.

Streichers, Midway, and Brownells all sell dunny mags for most guns. They are Rings (the blue gun address above takes you to their site), but you'll save a few dollars at the above stores.
Don't expect a perfect fit, they rattle a bit. I wound up making dummy ammo and using "real" mags for practice.

I took a 10 round mag and took out the spring and follower, filled it with play-dough and fishing weights to get it to weigh the same as a full normal mag. Then I taped the base plate in place with blue painter's tape. It works for me.
I did one for my G21 and for my G17.

I thought all mags were "inert"?
