There really is no best choice for blade steel. The "best" steel can be poorly heat treated. Most quality knife companies use very good steels for their knives. Remember they are all looking for ways to sell their knives so there is a lot of marketing hype. But in the end they are all good steels. Don't look for the cheapest knife out there though. Cheap means Chinese and that does mean bad steel choices. Just my opinion.
