At what distance should you zero your laser?

I have an IR laser and I'd like to know the best distance for it to be zero'd at. The NVG's I have. have a max "range" of 200 meters, so anything beyond that is pointless. Should it be 50 meters? Where would that put me at say 10 meters and 100 meters?

It will be mounted on the weapons left side.

I guess I should have been more specific, sorry.

16" barrel, mid length handguard AR15. The laser is mounted on the left side of the weapon. It doesn't have to be dead on, center mass would be good enough from 25-200. I've seen the TM for the ATPIAL, but that is a 300m zero and thats pretty unrealistic for a personally owned weapon.

If you zero your AR for 50 yards the same zero will hold for 200 yds. If its on the side of the weapon yo will always have th off set problem though. you may just want to run it parallel to the bore and that way you will be good from point blank on out.

I will mount it on top and zero it at 50 yards, it will just be easier that way.
