Sweet
I just picked up my new Gen3 G23. Sweet shooter. I also got the LWD 40-9mm conversion and 357 Sig barrels. It shoot 115gr. 9mm and the 357 with absolutely no problems. I adjusted my grip a little from a Weaver to a Stevens(?) and it made getting back on target a lot faster.
Also, I found that advice that the 180g 40 recoil is a little softer than the 165 is true. That's the weight I've decided on for SD.
I've been carrying it for three weeks at 2:00 and it doesn't feel as obtrusive as I thought it might. That's where I carried my G26 for the last three years.
Don't flame me for the Gen3 that I had to order to get. I know the Gen4 is getting great marks but I'm conservative and want a gun with an established reputation. And I have a box of G26 parts that will fit.
Anyhow, it's great. I'm glad to be part of the club now.

No flame! My G23, Gen3 is tough to beat and the caliber flexibility is such a bonus. Have fun!

I shot the new G23 as a .40 at an IDPA meet yesterday, ESP. SWEET! I don't shoot IDPA for competition. I do it just to see what errors I am likely to make in a shooting situation. I am amazed at the mistakes I make. At this meet, I gave myself a blood blister on my right hand whamming a mag into place. Then I immediately had an FTF because the mag was not fully seated. That would have been a lot of fun in a real gun fight. I've found another thing to train around at every IDPA event I've participated in. I can tell you it is true that your training takes over in a situation, even against cardboard targets.

Dan, for that very reason I carry G17 mags as spares for my G19 (and will carry G22 mags when I get my G23). On top of sparing myself the blood blisters, I get an extra couple of rounds when I reload.

yeah, I carry the G22 mags in the pouch but use the G23 mags for carry. The grip is the hardest part of the gun to hide. The G22 mags just plain stick out too far when the gun is in the holster. I must have had a G23 mag in the pouch when it was time to reload in the IDPA shoot.

What is a "Stevens" grip....? I've heard of Chapman, Modified Chapman, Weaver, Modified Weaver, Isosceles....

I don't remember how old my G-23 is, but I think it is a Gen 2, no finger grooves.
Don't know how many thousands of rounds fired, but several, I stopped counting a long time ago.
Back when I was buying 50 round boxes for 8.99 I would buy four boxes per week, and shoot them all up over the weekend.
Wish I would have bought a Pallet or two back then.

Very cool. I sure like my 23. Good to carry and shoot. Had to get a 27 to be it's playmate. I hope the 3 of us get to go play tomorrow. I need it!!!
