Great question, Aaron! Thanks for bringing it up.
One of the reasons I prefer the old Wolf Ears is that they're binaural, as opposed to stereo.
As it was explained to me by the engineers at Gentex long ago, "binaural" means that you hear in each ear the same way you would without muffs on, and determine direction normally.
Stereo is more like wearing dual earplugs with an iPod or an old Walkman: sound comes in both ears in a way that makes it sound as if it's either all around you or inside your head.
Thus, with stereo you have to look around to see where the sound came from.
With binaural, you can tell sound direction naturally.
It's an important point, and one I had neglected in previous discussions, so thanks again for bringing it up.
