CQC-7A Edge taper

Mr. Emerson,
I have an Emerson CQC-7A folder that needs to be resharpened. When I went to sharpen it, I noticed that the edge taper seems to change (angle seems to increase) towards the tip. The angle of the edge grind for the first 1/2 inch of the blade seems to be substantially larger than the angle of the edge grind near the handle. Was the blade ground this way for a reason? I am trying to use a fixed angle sharpener (Spyderco) to re-sharpen the blade, but it is not working. The stone contacts the edge of the blade near the handle but does not come anywhere close to the edge at the tip. Suggestions?
Thanks,
Bowtie

Re: CQC-7A Edge taper

Dear bowtie454,

I never use anything but a hand held diamond stick to sharpen my knives. Most people over think or over complicate the sharpening process. Check our website for sharpening instructions.

Best Regards,
