Why spending under $2K on a 1911 is like killing your family...
Started a new thread just to argue with Z28ricer, who's probably still cross at the world for someone already having the handle Z28racer...
So, apparently, I'm saying that if your 1911 isn't at minimum, a Brown, Baer or Wilson, you might as well just drop your wife and kids naked at the corner of Cracky Crack Ave and Skank St at 2am, because anything less is just not going to get the job done when it comes to defense....
Any takers ?

I know that you have to be joking. If you're bored maybe you should go rake the yard or wash the car.

For the purposes he relayed he should buy a Norinco.... it would last longer than a Kimber anyways at half the price.

bringing you down to my level, beating with experience etc....
I'm fairly serious. In another thread, there was accusations of gun snobbery. So I'm curious. Is there anyone out there who believes that anything less than a high end production gun is insufficient.
I see it over on AR15.com whenever anyone asks about optics or flashlights ( "so is your family's life not worth $2k etc..")

No sir not at all. I would and do carry my RIA with confidence. You don't have to spend a lot of money on any gun for it to be "internet certified reliable".

I totally disagree.
I love high end models as much as anybody, but saying that sort of thing is exactly what brings on the 1911 snob sentiment felt by many. There's just no reason, in my opinion, to portray that kind of image regardless of your means.
I believe you can feel very confident in models from $650-$800.
While I recommend those wanting to spend less than $500 for a SD or HD weapon to look at another platform, I have $400-$500 1911s that work great.

Re read what I wrote.
Look at the context.
Note the word "apparently".
