No love?
What, no love for the Makarov?  The first pistol I ever bought was a Russian IJ-70 10rnd Mak in 9x18 Makarov. After that I picked up an East German, another E.G., then a Bulgarian commercial Mak and finally a Bulgarian military Makarov. Nice pistols, but I now enjoy my 9x19 pistols more.

I have a Makarov knock off FEG Pa-63 its fun to shoot just not cheap and hurts lol.

2 years ago I steered a friend to a very good condition EG for $160. He loves it. I do not own a Mak, but my guess re the absence of web traffic on this site is that -- like the XD subforum -- not a lot of customizing is going on and users don't experience many problems. No surge in accessory choice or in gun supply either. In short: happy Mak owners. Hence not much to write about. But the love is probably still there....

Pretty much sums it up. Maks are excellent guns and just plain work.

After the demise of Makarov.com, I lost track of any after-market goodies for the Mak. Mak.com is still there and after a visit I see there is still a good link for refinishing at least...

I have the Pearce grips on mine. They do make the gun more shootable, though they are wider than the standard plastic grips.

BTW...my Russian Mak feeds the Hornady XTP round nicely.

Yesterday at the local gun show, I saw a .22 caliber conversion kit for the Mak (PM), looked brand new. Box showed it's age, but the slide looked new. First one I have ever seen in person.
Guy was asking $290.00. Could not pull the trigger, pun intended.

I've got one each of the commercial MAKs with the adjustable sights chambered in both 9x18 and .380 ACP. I picked them up when they were still available for $159. apiece new in the box, (all accessories included). Great guns!

The first Mak I bought was the Russian commercial 10rnd for $129 back in the day. Anyone know of the replacement rear sights for this version? Someone on Makarov.com use to sell and install them several years ago. I'm not in the market for them but just want to know if they are still available.

Bought a bulgie mak back when they were just being offered everywhere..89 bucks.It was a accurate little gun,flat and very easy to put just about anywhere.
Ammo dried up locally so I took it to the local ffl and sold it,got 100 bucks on anything he had in the store.Ended up getting a mosin mod 44 rifle,which I hated.Sold that one and got my 91/30,which I like a whole lot more.
Thinking back, I should have kept it.The ammo started coming back in recently.

Funny you mention the ammo. In my neck of the woods the price of 9x18Mak is pretty expensive. The last time I priced it at a local store it was $18 and change for a box of 50!!  I believe it was Wolf brand.

I had bought a case of Russian surplus stuff out of Shotgun News years ago. I don't remember which distributor, but it might be worth a look.

I love the damn things.
I carry a beater e. german, and have another pristine e. german. Also have a russian military, bulgarian dedicated 9x18, and another bulgarian as a permanent host to my 22 conversion kit. My rarest one is a chinese type 59 makarov.
Picked up a polish P64 a while back, and also own one of the wanad p83's
whats not to love, its small, tough, reliable. Maks are the AK of the pistol world

I still have my '89 Bulgarian Mak.
I picked it up, with 2 sets of grips and 11 magazines for $160 about a year ago lol
I'll debate on selling it, shoot it some (acc-URATE) then decide to hang on to it a lil more lol
