Interesting. Just make sure you water seal the holes. Probably not a good idea for sub-freezing climates!

It's too bad no one here seems to have a clue about portuguese language (and there's nothing wrong with that).
This happens in Brazil, and one of the FIRST things they say in that piece of news video is that it IS about scattering light and that ONLY works when the sun is up and shining... for sealed or no-windowed rooms, saving eletrical power in daylight by NOT turning on regular light bulbs when necessary.
No one in the video is claiming magic or out-of-this-world results.
And the adding bleach stuff, is just to make water as transparent as it can be, and also to prevent a very dangerous mosquito (aegis Egipt, or something like this) to reproduce.
Peace

Interesting. I've installed a couple of solatube type skylights & they work great; this looks like a low-tech version of that. Definitely worth considering in a shed, maybe a henhouse, etc.

I do this at night when camping...sorta
I put a 2 liter bottle of water (no bleach or film can...So I can still drink it)
on top of a large 6-volt lantern's lens. The square bottom type.
It lights up a tent or picknic table quite well...

Clear roof panels work great too. Can also provide some light when moon is full.

Javelin and enbloc have it covered.
Despite the protestations that 2 liter soda bottles will keep water forever, they don't. Wait until one placed in the ceiling with a chlorine mixture bursts on you!

How would you mount that and seal it? Roofing sealant after you cut a hole for the bottle?

Come on, it's not 50% water/50% chlorine, it's a few drops of chlorine. Have you ever used a swimming pool?

Before you decide to do this, leave a 2-liter bottle outside for a while and see what the sun does to it. Most plastics live short lives in the sun.
