This was the first Forum that I joined when I started shooting. I cannot begin to tell you the wealth of information I gleaned from this site over the last few years.
After accumulating a lot of the wisdom on this site I feel today that I am a more educated shooter.
In my quest to become proficient in the sport, I have actually been able to dispense my wisdom to newbies.
Thank you all for taking me under your wing.

I learned,

The police are unnecessary, if you own a gun you will never need to call the cops.

Never let facts or logic interfere with your opinions.

Always judge things with hindsight after all the facts known. Never consider actions according to what someone knew or reasonably believed at the time they took action.

Even after your post has been demolished and your "facts" dis proven just keep repeating the same drivel over and over again like it's the truth.

When getting your ass handed to you in a debate deflect, deflect, deflect. NEVER admit your views are not supported by facts or logic, deflect and change tactics.

Proclaim your self a champion of liberty and freedom loudly damning what you perceive to be infringements on YOUR liberty and freedom while supporting restrictions on other peoples freedoms and liberties to get what you want.

Many upstanding posters proclaim themselves certified law abiding good guys while apparently having regular contact with the police in regards to their driving habits.

After having thousands of posts where you have expressed your opinions, ideas, and revealed the general level of your intelligence make sure to tell any opponent that takes issue with you that they know NOTHING about you.

I was hit head-on yesterday by a drunk driver who crossed the center line into my lane. The local cops, who were on the scene in less than 2 minutes, carted the other driver off in cuffs. Open carry would NOT have prevented anything, in this case. The local cops were superb.

PS I'm fine. Stiff and sore as hell, but fine. Seat belts and airbags saved my face. Brand new truck was demolished. Fire dept (also superb) had to cut me out of the truck. Photos to follow.

Crikey!

Glad you are ok!

I find it interesting that the cop hating trolls (CHTs) proclaim there is no real need for the police since they are packing heat and "don't dial 911" but I often pause to wonder if what they say is true, if we abolish law enforcement who will do the following?

-Take accident reports when you drive your car into a tree (Req'd by your insurance)
- Serve civil papers on someone you are suing
- Haul off drunk drivers who just got done smashing your fence, car, family, etc.
-Find your lost kid/demented grandparent/missing wife and or husband.

Those are the things I can quickly think of that aren't solved by open carrying.

I don't typically carry, unless I have "probably cause" to believe I might need protection for certain circumstances. Driving in downtown Atlanta, late at night, comes to mind. The local law in Kennesaw and Marietta keeps me safe enough to feel that way. Ironically, I had been to the range earlier in the day with my son, as I have recurrent coming up and wanted some practice, and he just wants to shoot. I had just removed both weapons and was running an errand when I was hit. HAD I been carrying, I would have been strongly tempted to shoot the SOB who hit me. Luckily, I was trapped in the truck and was unable to do anything rash. On my way to go see the truck now. I left on a backboard, and haven't really had a look at it...

Did anyone mention unloading your gun before going hands on? It seems more practical to leave your gun in the holster.

if it is legal it is ok, unless you don't like it and then it is not ok.

Being able to hold two opposing viewpoints as being equally true is essential to having an internet opinion.

A coherent and logically consistent belief system/opinion is a liability on the internet, better to let your opinions be subject to the circumstances and your personal prejudices even if you regularly contradict yourself.

Every cop hater/basher has a friend or relative that is a cop who lets them know the real score.

The internet is a marvelous place that lets every academy reject and washout a place to vent their spleen about LE while bolstering their opinions with declarations of how they "used to be a cop".

Hell hath no fury like a candidate/rookkie scorned.

Every bounty hunter, security guard, or bouncer that got rejected in the hiring process, via the magic of the internet, will become an ex-SWAT guy that just decided the job wasn't for him and he wanted to do something more exciting and meaningful with their lives.

Some of the most vehement anti-law enforcement types have multiple family members who are present or former LEOs, ex-cops, retired cops in major crime areas who agree 100% with their anti-cop stance.

However, HOWEVER, when asked specifics about their relatives, they develop amnesia or start babbling incoherrently.

Funny you say that...I have this little problem where in the same day during the same 'net surfing session I go from having seething red hot anger at the libs to being accused of being a lib myself....by people who sound like liberals...but post on a gun board...

The lines are getting very blurry, and I'm not causing it either.

Only on the interweb will a leftist ideology like National Socialism (NAZI) be attributed to conservatives as a conservative ideal, especially when said conservative is pushing to enforce the laws which are ALREADY on the books, which is a pretty conservative stance.

I actually had more than 1 real discussion with brain dead lib zombies who called me and other name brand conservatives Nazi. I asked them if they knew what Nazi was. (crickets chirping...)

So I said, Nazism is National Socialism, aka the National Socialist Worker's Party, or Nazi Party. Socialism is a leftist ideology slight to the right of Communism. Worker's Party sounds like every leftist liberal labor union organization in the world. (crickets chirping...)

After some silence, you hear the gears come to a grinding halt inside their brain's last few remaining active cells, smoke comes out of their ears as the gears die, drool pools over the corner of their open jaw, then they come back with their last resort, "YOU'RE A RACIST!"
