NEW Ruger SR22 Pistol
Ruger sent me their new SR22 Pistol for T&E review. It’s a DA/SA blowback operated autoloader chambered in the .22 Long Rifle cartridge.
The pistol is a fixed barrel design and features an anodized aluminum slide and polymer frame.
At the range CCI and Federal ammunition was accumulated for the test.
50% sized B-27 Silhouette
Head group is 10 rounds of Federal at 3 yards, offhand.

All torso groups are 10 rounds at 7 yards, offhand.
Thorax: CCI Mini-Mag; X : CCI Stinger
5 round group of Fed. fired supported at 15 yards.

Everything worked and functions properly, like a quality auto-pistol should.

Another look-a-like gun from Ruger.
I don't care if the internals are completely different then a P22, its still a copy. Yes, I like Ruger products but......

.....but as you can tell by the safety location and operation of the mag release, it is nothing at all like the P-22. Hopefully it will perform as well as my two P-22s.

They kinda look similar, but in the hand not so much. Zink slide vs Aluminum. More accurate. Easier to disassemble. Interchangeable grips. Many things separate the SR22P from the P22.

Gunblast said he tried 19 types of ammo & it ran great. I'll give it a shot for $300.

Ruger must be taking their cues from the Chinese. They are copying everything.

Thanks for the report. Looks like a fine plinking gun - I wonder how long will it be before they have a pink edition for the girls who like cute guns?

The Ruger Mark series is excellent. I'm not so sure about this thing.

Do you need at least 3 hands to break it down?

Why would they make another .22 pistol when their MK series is one of the best if not the best selling plinker out there? If it mimicked one of their larger caliber pistols I would understand, but this would be more along the lines for someone who owns a Walther yet Walther already has the .22 covered.

I just finished the actual review, well done, Deadduck357. Great detail pics, that really helped answer some questions for me.

The Ruger "copycat!" folks are always good for a laugh. In almost all cases, Ruger improves the other design. The LCP and LC9 are much better-finished and better-functioning guns than the Kel-Tec versions in my opinion.
You know that there are only a certain number of plots in the entirety of literature, right? Depending on the scholastic theory you follow, it's usually between 7 and 20 plots. Everything for the last thousand years has essentially been a derivation of one of those same plots.
Guns are similar. It's a tool that shoots fast pieces of metal. There are only so many crazy new innovations that can happen. Gonna hate on every non-Colt company making a 1911?
I, for one, am interested. I always was interested in the P22, but the cheap slide and less-than-ideal functioning turned me off.

Not at all, very easy to disassemble. Much easier than the P22.

Then your gonna like this pistol. The aluminum slide give it a solid feel. So far I have just run a little over a hundred through it without any malfunctions, so far so good.
