New billboards poping up in Colorado from the Colorado Coalition Of Reason. To my knowledge there are three of these billboards. Two around Denver and one in Colorado Springs.
"God is an imaginary friend.
Choose reality, it will be better for all of us.
The Colorado Coalition Of Reason
My main support for atheists if for separation of church and state. I get that and I get freedom of speech. What I don't get is what this atheist group believes it will gain from building these billboards. They claim to be interested in opening up dialogue instead of upsetting those who disagree. For a extremely rational group of people this makes no sense to me. I think there are better ways to get the point across. It is obvious to me that the first statement will offend many people because it is calling those who believe in god just as smart as a child who would have an imaginary friend.
I will say that when I saw it (as a believer in god) I was in no way offended but quickly saw that many people would be and was very curious about the mindset of those behind it. I just do not see the advancement of dialogue this sign will foster.
Resident atheists of glock talk, please shed some light.
