Carry During Alaska Trip
We will be spending a couple of weeks in Alaska this summer, wonder about carry as we travel around (I have FL permit and LEOSA retired):
Fly to Anchorage from Chicago-
No problem, I've checked my piece on the airlines many times while traveling.
"Alaska Railroad" from Anchorage to Seward-
If that's Amtrak, the recent procedure to check your luggage with a gun still sounds like a major PITA. If not Amtrak, not sure what the regs would be for an in-state train.
Boat tour of Kenai Fjords-
Recent local boat tour in Florida had a sign about Coast Guard screening, but nothing actually happened. Attitudes in Alaska may be different...
Motorcoach from Seward to Anchorage-
An in-state bus trip.
"McK Explorer Dome Rail" train to Denali-
Again, not sure if this is Amtrak.
Stay at "McKinley Chalets/Denali Lodges"-
If they are Park Service employee buildings, then I have to store the gun while inside. Otherwise, local regs only?
Bus tours of Denali-
An in-state bus and not a Park Service Building, should be ok except for possible local regs.
"McK Explorer Dome Rail" again, this time to Fairbanks-
Same as before.
"Alaska Riverways/Riverboat Discovery" near Fairbanks-
Another boat ride, USCG issues?
Fly to Anchorage and back to Chicago-
Shouldn't be a problem with checking.
So, what do you Alaska folks know about the issues I'll have if carrying on this trip?
Thanks!
