Not my town, not my SD/PD, not my concern. Each man is responsible for his own actions...so long as they don't directly involve me. Same way I live my daily life. You do you and I'll do me. So long as what you do doesn't directly negatively affect me or mine..I don't care.

And why would I. Do you run and narc on every questionable action you observe or overhear by fellow officers? Or am I to assume that every officer you know and associate with is perfect and morally infallible?

Note: Rhetorical questions. I don't require an answer, nor do I care.

First, let me correct your assumption. I'm not the cop. I'm the father of a cop and the friend to many others in law enforcement.

Let me do this. Do you agree with this statement?
"There is someone in my department like Harless, but, his actions do not directly, negatively affect me or my family. What he does is what he does. What I do is what I do. I have no need to tell anyone about what he does. That's the way I live my life."
Does that accurately describe your position?

Next time they should turn the camera off and just shoot him. Camera was malfunctioning, and he charged the officers. Same end result, scumbag off the streets.. but without the mess of an embarrassing lawsuit.

How dare these lawyers and reporters question the motives and procedures of our heroic protectors while selfishly basking under the umbrella of protection they provide?

In most places on the interwebs, I would instantly recognize this post as sarcasm. Here, in Glocktalk world, I can't be quite so sure.

So they already had an arrest warrant and evading, but planted dope on him so they could...arrest him...which they were going to do anyway.

Oh, maybe they wanted a Hat Trick.

BTT for current discussion.

This is a good slice of past threads here in CL, what they're about, and how they go.

Facts and truths are often discarded over feelings.
If logic or facts are introduced, they are at times ignored, or attacked as "trolling".
The interesting thing is often the one who is making accusations of "trolling" offers insults and such. Not the sign of one who's interested in an exchange of ideas, but shutting down any "opposition" to their one sided narrative.
Perhaps they don't know they are doing it, but it is my hope that recent threads and a peek back in history can help spur more productive current and future discourse.

Given the vitriol being spewed by a guy in blue on "the thread in question", there is quite a bit of irony in your statement here. It's gotten pretty uncomfortable over there, to the point that I'm wondering if he's on the verge of needing the services of something like Safe Call Now.

And how is bringing up an old thread from 2008 gonna make it all better? The guy in Cookeville admitted to having the MJ on him back in '08. That's probably what happened. Some are still skeptical though, and are wondering what "the rest of the story is". Life goes on, it's only GlockTalk.

It's getting bizarre here in CL. The notion (brought up in "the other thread") that positive cop stories should be posted in CL is nonsensical. Positive cop stories are great, but they would be a better fit in a subforum titled "Caring Cops", because the term 'Civil Liberties Issues' actually means something.

Quote:
civ·il lib·er·ty
noun
The state of being subject only to laws established for the good of the community, especially with regard to freedom of action and speech.
Individual rights protected by law from unjust governmental or other interference.
Quote:
is·sue
noun
An important topic or problem for debate or discussion.
When one of these guy's posts a negative cop story it is not a personal attack. Most here understand that most cops are well meaning, good natured individuals, who are doing a tough job.

But there really is such a thing as civil rights violations, police brutality and corruption. There have been "bad shoots". There really is a wide range of employee quality in the LEO profession, just like any other profession. Some view these things as a problem, others don't. But they do exist, and CL seems like the logical place to bring them up.

Everything that has happened here in CL was predictable from day 1. When they created a sub forum called 'Civil Liberties Issues' on a gun oriented forum site, were they really expecting something different?

Excerpts from a thread posted November 29, 2006 in Cop Talk...

Once again and for the record, I and my site are big fans of LEO's and we support them. You do not have to like them yourself, but you do have to treat them respectfully if you want to post on my site. On the other hand, the problems here are not one-sided. I expect EVERYONE to comport themselves in a considerate, respectful manner, if they wish to continue participating here. There is no excuse for bad behavior and many of you are in a job that has certainly taught you better...
