One Shot Gun Cleaner and Dry Lube?

Question for the AR experts. I just bought a can of this on the advice of the LGS (can't go wrong there, right? ) and was wondering if anyone else has experience with it. It's kind of counter-intuitive to spray on a lube and have it look dry.

Thanks

I use SLIP 2000, and it works wonderfully. Dry lube in an AR definitely seems counter-intuitive to me.

I think you just answered your own question.
On an AR, the lubrication needs to be wet. Dry lube will burn off quickly. SLIP 2000 is good stuff.

Agreed. Slip 2000 EWL is all i use. I'll use CLP if it's not available, but not by preference.

The Dry Lube folks claim it doesn't gum up like traditional lubes.

Now are you guys talking about EWL or EWL 30? I was just looking at their website.

I only ever really used surplus GI oil from gun shows on my pistols. I take it this is not the best solution?

Not on an AR BCG or the like. It's use it on the mag well and possibly the FCG parts but that'd be it.

I prefer mil-surp clp is acceptable.....stinks like dookie though.
I'd suggest using what you have, then try Slip 2000 EWL

Slip 2000 EWL. Ive tried a lot of gun lubes including Slip 2000 EWL. For my needs and shooting sessions, Mobil 1 10w-30 or 20w-50 V-twin works really well. I have my wife buy those small 2 ounce twist top bottles at the container store for 50 cents a piece and just fill them up. You get enough oil for 8 dollars I can give it to my friends who dont have lube. I like to lightly grease the bolt carrier groups rails. I will say that of all the gun lubes Ive tried Slip 2000 EWL was easily the best.

Thanks! My AR assembly isn't close to being ready to shoot but I want to get all my ducks in a row and start off on the right foot.

I primarily use CLP and/or motor oil or whatever freebie new dangled gun lube I get for FREE in goodie bags from competitions. I think the most important thing is to wipe the BCG down and lube often enough that it doesn't run dry. I run about 1000-1200 round then detail strip upper and my BCG. Lube and run again.
In between, wipe lube and go.... slide a bore snake through the chamber and barrel prior/after every outing.

Thanks Wrench! Seems to me EWL is loved by all. I'll start it out with that and save the mil-surplus for my pistol.

I rub basic Hopes oil on my handguns. My rifles get Tetra gun lube. A lot of the thicker lubes get messy with handguns & are overkill. A basic gun oil is more the sufficient for a handgun.
I do hate CLP though. I have it as emergency backup lube only.
