It's refreshing to actually do this and have it be so successful!
My Wife's Satellite was over heating - 90C to 101C! - I *knew* it would not be long till it died... so I figured what the heck!
Looking at the left side of the Satellite I could see that there was a HUGE ding in the cooling fins, so I figured the thermal paste and heat sink/fan had been compromised and weren't working.
Dug into it, and had it stripped down in no time - and what should greet my eyeballs???
A great big strip of fuzz on the inside of the heatsink fins that completely blocked the airflow! Still, with the ding in the fins and all I went ahead and reapplied the CPU and Graphics thermal paste and heatsink.
Initially it didn't look all that successful - Well, okay about a 20C temp drop, but that put it down to "only" 70C... Just now checked it and it's idling in the mid 60C range.
Not perfect, but much better than it was!
Let's hear it for the folks who put the 'Notebook Dis-Assembly Steps' on the internet!
Whaaaa... you thought I just started yankin it apart???
I ain't cRaZy just yet...
