Acquired a Smith Model 41
Never had a pistol this accurate.
Just wait 'till I get a little practice under my belt.
Not sure what year it is (#A600049) or if the box is correct (stamped inside: "Oct 16 1975).
Shot it today for the first time!

Awesome 41! I have it's brother from 1978.
Do yourself a favor and shoot standard velocity through it.you won't believe the accuracy.

Thanks, shot some of that just today.
Little metal animals screamed "PIIING" and fell right over.

Enjoy yours.
Unfortunately, mine is no longer reliable with match grade ammo.
This is my wife modeling her first time with the M41,

Here's a rested 25 yard target, 10 rounds from a M41.
Can't wait until I have enough extra money to get to the M41 on my list...

S&W mdl 41.
The best-balanced, best-looking, most-accurate handgun that I've ever fired or owned!!
Hitting empty 12 ga shotgun shells @ 100 yards off of sandbags - (open sights, that is) is a REAL kick in the pants!
Congratulations!!!!!

Welcome to the club! The 41 RULES!
Start comparing standard velocity match ammo. Mine loves Eli Tenex and Federal Gold Medal.

I got mine in the same configuration as yours, the 5" heavy barrel. Mine is a 1978 "A" Prefix like yours, too.
I really wanted a rail on the top for a red-dot, but I didn't want to ruin the value of the original barrel, so I ordered another S&W 7" barrel that already had been drilled and tapped for a weaver rail.
Here it is with a red-dot installed.
I bought a few 12 round Smith and Wesson mags and a case of CCI Standard Velocity and the combo makes this my favorite gun in my collection...and the most accurate. Btw, the HKS 22S Magloader works really well for me.
The one pictured above in my gun pron pic is an ADCO mag loader, but I gifted it to my father-in-law who has a Model 46. It's too bad that Utimate Clip Loader doesn't make a model for the 41 mags.

I'll have to try several types of standard velocity ammo to see which it likes best.
Do 41's like to be kept extra clean?
If so, how many rounds between cleaning?

Nice pistol.
My Mod 41 is the first pistol I brought and one that I use a lot.
You'll like it more every time you shoot it.

They awesome pistols though.

Nice setup! If you don't mind me asking, what did that scope set you back? Seems ideal for squirrel hunting.

Aw, now, think about it like this: you can get a nice 41 for about the same price or less than most run-of-the-mill 1911's.
For 41 money I just sold a couple of average guns that I wasn't shooting much.
See how easy it is now?
