Crossfit

Hello,

I would like to know how many of you are into the crossfit?

I started doing the crossfit from last Monday and I really like it. I need to build my strength to the WODs' expectations.

If you have any of tips, could you be mindful to chime it in for us?

Have fun and be safe!

it really depends on what your goals are. Xfit is a great way to strength train, but not the best for weight loss or running. I have a friend that does xfit, and he swears its the workout of the gods. I can still out run him and do pretty much every strength exercise he does. Even to this day I can out do him in pullups =)

The best workout is a workout that keeps you motivated and healthy, and if xfit does that for you, thats super and keep at it.

PS: xfit people are really into the paleo diet, i personally am not.

i used to do it pretty religiously, and I actually did lose a bunch of weight, in combination with a good diet. Got out of it because I wanted to focus more powerlifting. Are you doing it at a "box" gym or a crossfit gym?

I am doing the xfit in a base's gym and it has every equipments of crossfit, which it is awesome. I don't want to pay a dime to do the xfit in a xfit gym where I could do exact same for free on a base's gym.

I am into paleo's diet plan for almost a half year.

The cross-fit gym's aren't worth it. They're over priced, and cross-fit will give certification to just about anyone, whether they know there stuff or are just out to make money. Most of the gyms are run by the latter.

That being said, the program itself is generally excellent and does provide "useable strength" -- something that many exercise programs do not do. I followed it a few years ago, but have since lost the time to do regular work-outs. If you keep a good diet, and keep up with the work-outs (even doing them at reduced weight until you can do them at full), you'll get better.

Ithink Xfit sucks. Mostly because glASSman is a Richard head and most xfitters are bungholes. I would recommend following Ross Enamait"s teaching instead. Ross is the real deal.

Go for it. Paleo diet is a hardcore of Primal Diet. However, you will benefit from both diets in a great degree.

I tried Paleo and liked it for a while but eventually my strength levels went down. I couldn't get enough calories I guess.

That being said, while on Paleo I got down to around 7% bodyfat and my strength actually went up at first, but then slowly went down.

I usually have to eat a ton of food to make gains, and Paleo left me feeling good. Not bogged down with bad carbs and much less taxing on my digestive system.

When anyone asks me how to change their diet and lose weight I always recommend Paleo.

Paleo with milk is more along my lines.

It has been five or six years since I have read a paleo book, but is a meat as processed as bacon considered paleo? I didn't think it was. I am guessing it depends on the author.

I used to do crossfit regularly. Now only randomly for good quick random workouts.
When I did it regularly I hit my all time high body weight but could see my abs the first time since I was twelve. My bench also hit an all time high as well which surprised me because you rarely bench. We did adjust the weight up in my group to be appropriate for strength and body weight though. Example if the WOD called for 185 we might use 225 because that was closer to our body weight and a manageable load.

Assuming you train, and barring a physical/physiological reason preventing it, you should be able to bench press your weight; at least one rep.

For the sake of not writing a book, your keeping your carb intake as low as possible all day, and then eating carbs and a bigger meal for supper. When i say low, i mean like 50grams low.

I am trying not to be too extreme with the Paleo diet. If they want to do that then so be it. I don't think it has a huge impact, unless the ingredient is different than just a bacon.

Crossfit is ok. Its biggest advantage is that some people need those group workouts to be motivated. My wife is one, and it's good for her. I hate it. I'd much rather push harder in the areas I can, and ease off in the areas I need to in order to prevent injury.

The paleo diet is ok, but like every diet it has flaws. The biggest flaw is a lack of calcium, which requires supplements or "cheating" by adding some dairy. The basic premise is good though. Limit carbs and processed foods as much as possible. Meat and vegetables are your friend. Eat small portions several times per day.

That's not a healthy weight loss; you are either dehydrating or severely limiting your caloric intake while at the same time making tremendous (or not) demands on your body.

None of the above. I drink about a gallon of water daily. I went from a completely sedentary lifestyle to crossfit type workouts, hiking, and trail running. I also stopped eating gluten (I'm not allergic, just have read a lot of bad things about it) I also stopped fast food, and processed foods, and I limited the amount of beer I am consuming. I wasn't huge, just unhealthy.

Yeah, I've heard that xfit has a bad effect on math skills.
