Yes. I shoot the comp division mainly for extra practice and the additional random entry.

Same as me...
Just to make it fair (and simple) we will use the Am Civ/Am Guard scores. At least that way, GSSF is doing some of the checking and since I can't verify which guns were shot, we will assume they did it for us.

C'mon, you have all year to get three good stages put together. What did you run in Norco?

At least you don't have any misses.
Do you have a shot timer?

Meh, not in AmCiv or Comp. You should see my HM & MS times!
Yeah, I have a timer but it is difficult to use at the indoor range. Right now, I just can't seem to get out somewhere outdoors to practice. At least an hour drive and my truck is down for the moment. I have a few ideas to try indoors to work on the transitions as long as the range doesn't give me too much grief on the width of the target. I think I can set up at least 3 plates to practice on. I have broken into the 5's on individual strings before but not consistently.

No need to even fire a live round for what I am suggesting.
Get a dummy round or 5 or 15...
Set your timer up to double beep (par time?) and then see if you can get on target and pull the trigger under the par time. This could help with reaction and acquiring the first sight picture; I find that to be the hardest one to get, so any (good) practice and muscle memory should help when it comes match time.

Ah, gotcha. I will give that a try. I know I need to dry fire more anyway.
Thanks!

Just shot Piru last weekend, and that's it for me this year. In January, it start all over, and I'm hoping to add Yolo, and Richmond for a total of 7 matches for the year. At 5 divisions each match (averaging 500 rounds per match, prolly gonna be less) that's 3,500 rounds a year just for GSSF.

Argh... I forgot about Conyers well now it's 4 complete cases. I hated odd numbers anyway.

I'm a new shooter and I love this thread but you guys are out of my league. I did shoot my first three matches this year in Dayton, Indy and Lexington but my combined times are north of 240 seconds (14 misses). First shot with .357 sig and the other two with G17.
Need to practice up and try again next year as I'm done for 2012.
Interestingly, I shot comp at each match (same guns) and my combined was 136 seconds (3 misses). I always shoot amciv first...I guess there's something to warming up. Still need to speed it up though.
Thanks Bama for sponsoring this thread.

I'm just an unpaid spokesman that likes their product.
Alabama Holster is now Alabama Holster and Gun. They should be up and running with firearms and ammo around Jan 1.

It's funny but I am finding my "warmup" which is usually Comp is my best score. Next year I am going to try starting with AmCiv and see how that works. I am also going to try and hit all of the cardboard with ALL 6 shots!
