What is the most reliable .40 ammo

I personally carry the G23c everyday. I get out and shoot it at least once a week. What is the #1 best .40 ammo to use in both FMJ and hollow point? I currently use Federal Champion FMJ for target shooting and Federal HST hollow points for personal defense. I never really had any problems with either but I definitely want the best. If money was not an issue what manufacturer/type of ammo is the best? Im looking to stock up on ammo and when I ask my local gun dealer what ammo I should get he always points me towards the most expensive ammo he has. I dont know if it's really the best or if he just wants my cash.

I've never shot any quality ammo from the big manufacturers that was NOT reliable. If you go for bargain basement, you will find some.

you can't go wrong with HSTs or Gold Dots. I have been using them in my 23 and 27 for years and they have been 100%.

I also carry a G23. I love Hornady anything. Especially CD in a 165 or 180 gr. Win PDX1 is decent too. I just picked up a couple of boxes of Corbon DPX 140 gr. I like it. Always wanted to try it, but expensive. Found it cheap at my local Gander Mtn. I tried it out yesterday. Real nice.

I LOVE 165 gr HST for my G23 and G27. I think there's also a compelling argument for the same bullet in 180 gr but I seem to shoot the 165s just a bit better and they pack a punch.

IMO the 165 grs have it all - fast, powerful, accurate, affordable and not crazy-hard to find.
