I looked around for the class 3 forum but couldn't find it. I sent off my paper work to form 1 my Noveske chainsaw lower. I listed a 10.5 inch barrel.

Since things I have read around the internets tell me I have about 6 months to decide what configuration (rails, sights, etc) I want to go with.

Time to forget I ever sent it off so come January it will be a nice surprise.

Congrats on even making it so far as completing the paperwork. It's not as hard as people think, but it can definitely be intimidating.

Missouri. A mostly free state. The wife and I have kicked around moving to Texas next year so a SBR would still be able to make the trip.

The best thing that Missouri did was change the NFA laws to reflect the federal laws. Now I don't need an C&R license to take my NFA stuff to visit my parents, which was impossible with an NFA trust.

Check showed ACH'd on 08/08/12.

The NFA wait estimator ap puts a 65% probability of it being approved in December. We shall see.

In the mean time, I am trying to forget that this thing is out there pending while simultaneously trying to decide the "build or buy" for the upper. I guess as time wears on and parts become scarce (you'd think the manufacturers would start ramping up production with all the paranoia buying that is going on) that will influence my decision as well.

Talking with a friend who works for an AR parts sales company, the manufacturers who ramped up production last election didn't see any additional benefit, so they said they were not going to expand their facilities this time around.

I feel your pain. My SIG 556 Patrol SBR Form 1 went pending on July 6th. I just mailed the form 4 for my first machinegun, a M10/45, today. I hope to have the SIG approved by November or so, and the MG by January would be fantastic.

I still am trying to decide if I should build or buy. An lmt upper is appealing but then so is buying a 10.5" noveske upper and having an all noveske gun. Anyone have first hand info in the noveske sbr uppers?

Always heard good things about Noveske uppers, but I have an LMT.

LMT upper and barrel, YHM set-screw low profile gas block, DD Mk. 18 RIS II rail system, and BCM FA BCG. She runs like a freaking top, no matter what ammo I feed her.

If I do my part, I can get rougly 1" groups at 50 yards with a 4MOA Aimpoint on that upper. Hitting COM anywhere from 2 to 150 yards with that setup is painfully easy. Unfortunately, the longest reliable fragmentation range you will get, even with heavy OTM ammo, is only about 50 yards. Im going to get some Silver State Armory 70gr TSX loads soon to test out in my SBR, and might even try some poor-man's ballistic media (ie: soaked newspapers or phone books) to check out the expansion on them. I've heard that they can expand even well past 100 yards from a 10.5" barrel, but I haven't seen any significant testing to back that up.

I had emailed SSA a while back and inquired about their 60 or 64 grain protected hollow point or whatever it is and asked about the effective range with that round. The rep said about 200 yards. I am thinking of going with that as a duty load.

I called to see if or when my form 1 went pending and learned it went pending on 8/17. According to the nfa weight predictor I have a 46% chance of seeing it in December. A lesser chance before, a lesser chance after. Oh man.

I just saw plank's post and according to the guy at SSA it is from a 10.5. Initially he quoted a much longer distance then sent a second email stating 200.
