As far as the generator goes...LOVE IT!!!
It started on the second pull. Runs like a champ. Powers my mini fridge (and hopefully a small fan to give me a breeze). It's a LOT quieter than I thought it would be as well. Not whisper quiet but you can easily talk at a normal volume over it when it is at your feet.
No complaints here! We'll see how it hold up if I need it to run 6-8hrs.

What is the oil/gas ratio on these? 2/1?

50:1. So it's 2oz per tank. Plus there is a little measuring cup built in to the gas cap. It's pretty nice.
I bought half a case of the oil and THEN realized it took so little of it. Running it a few times a month, I have more than enough to last a few years.

There might be a little problem now...
I went to buy a winch the other day and brought a coupon code with me for 20% off. I get to the register, she types it in...multiple times....didn't work. Then she said that from now on I guess HF is requiring coupons to be physically brought in...not just codes any more.
But try it, she could have been wrong.
It was great when she pulled a coupon out of the garbage, scanned it, winked at me and smiled and said "you didn't see that"...

It's 2-stroke. Nothing to do oil-wise except add it to the gas.

Hit my local HF. Big sign right by the Gensets - no coupons.
Wouldn't use the code at the register.
No sale.

I get HF flyers in my Sunday paper every week. That genset is usually in there for $89. The cutout coupon that u use for it says it on that it cant be combined with other coupons. Been thinking about one just for the hell of it.

Did they even punch in the code??? That code was supposed to be good until the end of August I think.
It not working and them not punching it in to even try are two very different things....
Which was it?
Thanks

Hmmmm I have not seen the coupon. May buy a Sunday paper here to see if it is in there. I wonder if someone scanned one and then printed it out it would work? Might be a location deal.

5.11 "covert" dress shirt for $14.99 at LAPolicegear; less than half of what I've seen them for elsewhere:
http://www.lapolicegear.com/511-covert-dress-shirt.html
Never tried them myself (largely because I'm cheap), but at this price I ordered a couple out of curiosity. Apparently some of the buttons are normal/real, some of them are sewn on for appearance only, with breakaway snaps beneath them for accessing either a holster or the the shirt's internal pockets.

I just wanted to update about Harbor Freight...
That bit about the codes no longer working and the coupon needing to be present was pure BS. That cashier must have been mistaken that I last spoke to.
I used an internet code on Friday and saved 20%. The code was 99094294

Radioshack has those 33 amp 12v batteries down to $29, which is crazy good. They don't sell chargers, but Mouser and Harbor Frieght I think does. I'm going to buy two and make my own version of the Xantrex power supply I already have, but with almost 3x the capacity.

I was able to get the 89.99 price online today by clicking on the generator within the sidewalk sale ad/link currently listed on the HF home page. Note that the ad shows 129.99 but it showed up in the cart as 89.99. Not quite sure how but I was also able to get the above 20% off code to work with it. I think the secret is to have more than one item in the cart before applying it. Not really sure though. Once it applied the 20% to the generator I ordered it immediately.
Hope it works as well as most have reported. Sounds like a great deal. Thanks for the info!

p.s. This might be a good option for those who may be in Isaac's path. Be safe.

Free fuel discs....extreme deal.
I usually shy away from posting much about the "extreme" deals I get thru my wife's obsession with "extreme" couponing. But this one is so good I figured I'd pass it along to you all here..
Fuel disc...
http://www.grillwithbic.com/
Here's a link describing the "get one free" coupon...
http://truecouponing.com/2012/08/fre...6-smartsource/
We bought 20 coupons from an online coupon clipping service for $4.50 mailed...so for $4.50 I now have 20 of these flame discs...yes I plan on buying more of them so please stay away from the Central Maine area Rite Aids while I clean the shelves..

Thanks for the tip, S. I visited your links, was amused at this:
"I went this morning to my local Publix, Sweetbay, Winn Dixie & Walmart, and unfortunately, none of my local stores carry it [flamedisc] yet." D'ya think she might have used up $5 in gas looking for a free $5 flamedisc?

Yeah that's funny. My local Rite Aid had more than enough.

I read as many posts as I could before getting a little cross-eyed and didn't see any mention of the Sportsman's Guide.
'Better safe than sorry, so I'm mentioning them.
'All kinds'a gear: Military, hunting, sporting etc., etc., etc..
'Saw that some folks were talking boots and binocs and they've got them, and usually at unbelievable prices.
They don't have the "latest", but if you don't mind last year's model and/or "hot" color . . they're good deals waiting to happen.
I've used them for many years and couldn't recommend them more highly for customer service and returns too.
But . . after reading about the places you guys frequent . . why do I feel like I'm preachin'ta the choir?

Just a note on things to have around when the power goes out......
I bought some buckyballs. I find them very useful in killing time. They don't require any power. They are entertaining for young and old.
I think they are better than a deck of cards, and they are on sale. See Buckyball thread.
