NRA’s Chris Cox Goes One On One With Governor Mitt Romney

Romney sits down for a question and answer session with the NRA's Chris Cox.

NRA’s Chris Cox Goes One On One With Governor Mitt Romney
http://dailycaller.com/2012/09/11/on...r-mitt-romney/

Quote:
Cox: Would you support legislation to provide national reciprocity for Right-to-Carry permit holders so that they can protect themselves when they’re traveling outside their home states?

Gov. Romney: Absolutely. Fundamental rights don’t disappear when we cross state borders, and self-defense is a fundamental right.

Cox: Would you support the reimposition of a federal ban on semi-automatic firearms incorrectly called “assault weapons?”

Gov. Romney: No. I do not support any additional laws to restrict the right to keep and bear arms.

Cox: As governor, you signed a major bill reforming Massachusetts’ gun registration and licensing laws. Some in the media and elsewhere claim this bill was a reauthorization of the semi-auto ban in Massachusetts. What’s your response?

Gov. Romney: As governor of Massachusetts, I was proud to support legislation that expanded the rights of gun owners. I worked hard to advance the ability of law-abiding citizens to purchase and own firearms, while opposing liberal desires to create bureaucracy intended to burden gun owners and sportsmen. As governor, I also designated May 7 as “The Right to Bear Arms Day” in Massachusetts to honor law-abiding citizens and their right to “use firearms in defense of their families, persons and property for all lawful purposes, including common defense.”

The bill you mention was supported by your state NRA affiliate because it expanded the rights of Massachusetts gun owners. The NRA said at the time that it included “the greatest set of firearm law reforms since the passage of the Commonwealth’s worst-in-the- nation gun laws … a breath of fresh air for law-abiding gun owners.” While not perfect legislation, I agreed with that description of the bill, and that’s why I signed it into law.

The problem is, and which the Romney haters will highlight, is Romney's past comments in support of gun control and his signing of the Massachusetts gun control legislation.

The question gun owners will have to ask is who's worse on 2A, Obama or Romney, when they evaluate the two politicians. 2A single issue voters will not be happy with either candidate.

There is a big difference. Romney changes his stance on any number of issues with much greater frequency than Obama.

Hmmm...The guy who, when given a choice, expanded the gun rights of Massachusetts citizens, versus the guy whose administration concocted Fast & Furious, and whose party platform advocates stricter gun control and reinstatement of the AWB.

I'm going with Door #1...

You do realize that everything Mitt said was a lie, right?

Mitt Romney, professional liar, draft dodger and more anti-gun than Bill Clinton, and member of a religious cult where ALL the members are going to fry in Hell for being an abomination to God.

Yep, that's the man they DON'T want you to know.

How can anyone that's a gun owner, a Veteran or a Christian support Romney?

Oh, that's right....... because Obama is black.

You are of course ignoring the elephant in the room when it comes to Obama's anti 2A views....
Sotomayor: who ruled against 2A in both Heller and Chicago.
Kagan: who lied publicly about 2A being "settled law" during her nomination hearings, and then promptly votes against 2A in Chicago.

You are also, of course, willfully ignoring this...

Might as well toss this out too...

I don't see the big relegation here - any candidate in his position would give the exact same answers.

Actually, Romney has never banned guns. He was not yet in office and so did not sign the 1998 strict gun control, which included MA's permanent AWB, into law.

If you actually examine his record it is clear Romney signed no anti-2A bills while he was Gov. of MA 2002-2006. Romney only reduced gun control (including amending the AWB and making it less strict) or signed pro-2A bills into law.

As the liberal media and Obama supporters are revising history, the NRA magazines published a link to Romney‘s entire record:
http://www.goal.org/newspages/romney.html

In 2008 Romney was rated "B" by the NRA and Obama was rated "F". Since then, Romney has only become more pro-2A and Obama more anti-2A. Romney would be a much better President for gun-owners than Obama.

It must really gall you that many people don't support Obama no matter how much free stuff he promises to give them.
