1911 bedside

using a 1911 bedside in a very small house I am debating cocked and locked in a holster or condition three. on a previous thread you agreed with me racking a slide is probably not a good idea if someone has already entered.
often the glock is bedside but I have been shooting 1911s for 40 years and a 1911 give me confidence that no other handgun can.

Ain't nuthin' wrong with a good 1911! Personally, when I'm using one, I keep it at bedside condition one (cocked and locked). If the intruder is already inside the bedroom when you have to go for the gun and time is short, the hand you'd normally use to rack the slide may be occupied in throwing off the bedcovers or even fending off an attacker who's already on top of you.

Another advantage of cocked and locked which lots of folks miss: if the bad guy gets hold of the gun, anyone who watches TV knows to rack the slide and pull the trigger. Finding the safety catch on an unfamiliar pistol is gonna take a whole lot longer for him...but not for you.
