I bought one for my wife about two years after they came out. We both really like the gun. I'd buy one.

I have one. It's pretty much pot metal junk, in my opinion.
Walther doesn't even build them.

Come on BAC. . Don't hold back. . tell us what you really think!
I was going to buy one at one point, but then read all of the review about internal part breaking because the metallurgy just wasn't up to dealing with the stresses. That was a few years back and things might have changed. . But there are a lot of better .22s out there to chose from.

Some work well and some don't. The same as all things. I have two and I am selling one to get a Single Six revolver. I like Rugers but I hate cleaning .22 caliber pistols of any brand. The Smith version of the Walther is fine for plinking.

I have one and like it. Fun to shoot, no problems. Once in a while it will fail to lock back the slide on the last round with standard velocity rounds. If you shoot the high vel stuff, it runs like a watch.

I agree and most small caliber pistols need the high velocity stuff to function properly.

I have a P22 as does my buddy. Neither have had any problems.
EDIT: We shoot whatever is the cheapest at Wally World.

Went to a gun show last weekend to buy the Walther, but came home with the Ruger. I found out the following about the Walther:
-the safety didn't drop the hammer
-it only came with one magazine
-it was 40.00 more
-the feel just wasn't as solid (subjective, others may feel the opposite)
Came home with the SR22--40.00 less, 2 mags, has been flawless with a full pack of Winchester 555's. Kind of cool to spend money on an American product, too.

Yep, that's what I finally did. Love the Ruger. Over 300 rds through it the first trip to the range.
