G21 Issues?

I am thinkinig of purchasing either a G21SF Gen 3 or a G21 4th Gen.

I know there are a lot of reports of erratic ejection problems with both of these models. I have seen it myself.

My question is, are all of the new Glocks affected with this? What are the chances of purchasing one and having these issues? And finally, has it been solved yet? I did a search and found tons of info, but nothing conclusive.

Either one would be a fine purchase there hasn't been any problems with the Gen4's that I've heard of and the one's that do have them all say it's a sweet shooter. The Gen4 G21 is the only Gen4 that I personally haven't shot yet. Plus for me I still think most of the problems are internet exaggerated.

I have two 21sf's. They are both about 3 years old and have absolutely 0 issues. One of which gets carried and abused daily on duty

I have not read here many reports regarding ejection issues with the G21.

I have a new G21 Gen4. The only ejection issues I have had is with some wuss 45 reloads that I made for another gun, and once in a while with wolf ammo.

Never a jam or failure of any kind, just some casings dropping at my feet. Full power loads run perfectly.

I am really happy with the gun.

This is exactly my experience, as well.

Some of my really light reloads dribble out, or eject to the LEFT, but the pistols always work.

I have shot my friend's G21 SF in local pistol matches and no issues other than his rear sight was WAY off. I fixed that with a hammer and punch. I picked up a G21 Gen4 and have yet to shoot it. I run factory ammo and if I have any issues I will document it.

I believe in some cases erratic ejection is caused by an out-of-spec extractor because replacing it fixes the problem. However with recent production Glocks I believe it's more commonly caused by something else, I believe with my Gen3 G27 that the slide was cut incorrectly having the effect of the extractor not firmly holding the rim of the casing to the breech face, only a "Gen4" 28926 ejector would fix the ejection. I tried the extractor from my Gen3 G23 which ejects fine, it made very little difference, only the 28926 ejector would fix it.

With the .45 models there is no new ejector. I've never owned one, but most of the cases of erratic ejection I've heard of in .45 Glocks were fixed by a replacement extractor. That would suggest mostly it's caused by out-of-spec extractors in the .45 models, which is easy enough to fix.

I have a G21SF gen 3 about two years old, right handed shooter, no ambi mag release. I've had no ejection problems with it. As a matter of fact, at a recent bowling pin shoot, people remarked how the casings on ejection all fall in close proximity to one another, at ~ 4:00 o'clock.

I completely agree here. I've found that Power Pistol and Longshot work best with .451 230 gr. loads (I use Hornady FMJ and XTP projectiles) on the heavier-side of the power scale, and the brass ejects just fine. More importantly, it reloads just fine. I haven't ruined/cracked any cases yet with my loads.

My nightstand pistol is a G21 (not even an SF model, but the full size 2X4 grip model) which was an LE trade-in, outfitted with TruGlo TFO sights and a Crimson Trace laser.

When the Gen4 was available, I knew that I had to get one, and I haven't been disappointed at all.

I've had the same experience with both PMC ammo and my light reloads in my gen 4 G21. When I cranked up the power a little on my reloads, though, the pistol functions and ejects perfectly.

It never jammed with the lighter ammo, but ejection was less consistent.

G21 Gen 4; build 9/12 1000 rounds Federal 230 FMJ ejection was going over the port divider and hitting the guy in the next lane.

I have a 21SF. I picked it up last year after my new 30SF was a miserable failure. The 21SF has been good to go.

My G21SF has been perfect.
