G29 magazine issues

I have six Glock 29 magazines that when fully loaded won't allow my slide to be racked with any reasonable amount of effort and some won't rack at all. I've noticed that If I take at least one round out it racks perfectly. I've just about ruined ten rounds trying to break them in and so far only have three that even remotely resemble a correctly working magazine.

The pressure when fully loaded is also causing the metal feed lips to bend outwards which makes some top rounds sit at a different angle than others.

These are all brand new or almost new magazines with pearce grip extensions installed.

Also I've noticed that the where the mag catch contacts the mag is quickly wearing out.

I've only had one failure to feed and one bad primer for a total of two failures out of around 300 rounds.

Is this normal? My G30 never had any magazine issues!

Is it unreasonable to expect my mags to just work? I don't mind them being hard to load but this is crazy!

I tried searching the forums for my problems but kept getting the following error:

This problem has been extensively discussed as a common G30SF problem..

Your problem is similar.

Have your tried going back to factory end plates, before going further?

I'll try switching out the plates but I don't expect it to make any difference. The spring is just super strong.

So, switching the plates didn't fix the problem. Any other ideas?

New mags have stiff springs, especially in the subcompacts, that squeeze every possible round into a tiny space.

Over time, the springs will loosen.

You can shoot, shoot shoot, and wait. (You have alot of mags to break in)
or
Load one less round (8+1 ain't bad), and live with it.
or
Chest press: This is my invention. every night press a fully loaded mag into the well (press, release, press, release), do it 200 times while watching TV. Over the course of a week that mag will be fine.
Repeat with other mags. That's why my pecs are so big.

BTW this is similar to how I smoothed out my G21SF ambi release, too. Just worked it with a loaded mag until it smoothed out. Took about a week.

I have a glock 29 and love it....not happy with the pearce finger extension..not enough grip..Can you use a glock 30 finger extension on the glock 29 mags?.....

Any other options beside pearce?

Yes, probably.

You can also compensate for the missing pinky by adding friction to what you do grip: grip tape, stippling.
